Tfc Woods, for six years a patrolman op m t the Sail Iake police'force, died at 7 o'clock last night of pneumonia at his home, 1570 Second East street. Officer Offi-cer AVoodg contracted a heavy cold whHe walking his beat on tho night of February 2S. The following day he was reported absont on account of Illness, and acute pneumonia set In two days later. Two' hours before death ensued a delegation of police officers, led by Sergeant Emll Johnson, a close friend of Officer Woods, visited the dying man. He was able to talk with his friends until a few minutes before-the before-the end, telling them to give his regards re-gards to his fellow officers. An hour after his father's death, Patrolman Woods' 12-year.-ohl son entered en-tered tho desk sergeant's office at the police station, stood solemnly at attention at-tention for a moment, with the tear stains on his little face and then an- ' nounced that he had come to report the death. Samuel B. Woods was born at Princeton, Ind., forty-one years ago. He came to Utah seventeen years ago. and had resided here over since, in 1S90 he enlisted in tho regular army and mustered out again InlSD5.
