MERRILL Dr. Heber Kimball Merrill, 72, prominent physician in Logan and Cache Valley for many years, died peacefully at his home, 150 South 2nd East street, sometime during Monday night. He was found dead in bed Tusday morning by members mem-bers of the family. Heart attack was given as the cause of death. Dr. Merrill has been in the pub-:Tic pub-:Tic eve in this section of the state for many years. He was superin-, tendsnt of the Cache Valley Gen-' eral Hospital at the time of his death and was founder of the institution. in-stitution. On December 5, 1940, he was chosen presidsnt of the Utah Hospital association. -Boi- in Rk'tvTe-si,- -September-23, 1869, he was a son of Apostle Marriner Wood and Almira Jane Bainbridge Merrill. He was educated edu-cated in the public schools at t Richmond, at the Brigham Young College, the University of Deseret, the University of Utah where he obtained his degree and in 1902 lie enrolled at Northwestern University Uni-versity medical school at Chicago where he graduated three years later. Prior to entering medical school. Dr. Merrill taught school atj Richmond, Lewiston and at the Brigham Young College. He was married to Oretta Allen Dudley of Clifton, Idaho, in the Logan temple, tem-ple, June 30, 1897. . Dr Merrill hab held numerous positions of responsibility, including includ-ing that of county physician, member mem-ber of the Logan city board of education for ten years, one of) the organizers of the Logan Garment Gar-ment Company and president of this firm at the time of his death member of the state board o ; health, director and president oi the Wellsville State Bank. He served serv-ed as a missionary to Germany for the L. D. S. church. His wife, along with the following follow-ing children, survive: Oretta u. Carlson of Preston; Liola D. Jen-1 sen of Salt Lake City, Leah D. Merrill of Logan, Jeanne D. iz-att iz-att of Boise, H. K. Merrill Jr. of Lethbridge, Canada, and Derry Rae Merrill of Logan. There survive also tho following follow-ing brothers and sisters: Fred w. Merrill and Mrs. Orella M. Jen- sen of Salt Lake City, William Merrill, L. Edgar Merrill, Mis-Xaura Mis-Xaura Funk, and Mrs. Nellie Johnson of Richmond, Dr. Amos N. Merrill qf Provo, Parley Merrill Mer-rill of Weston, Idaho, Ezra J. Merrill of Pocatello, Mrs. Ida M. I Van Orden of Lewiston, Dr. Jo- i seph F. Merrill and Mrs. Lucy Funk of Salt Lake City, Dr. Mel-1 vin C. Merrill of Washington, D. C, Mrs. Hattie Morrison and Mrs. Anna Mae Hale of Logan, Mrs. Lenora Olsen of Smithfield Mrs. Hilda M. Riehards of Malad, Mrs. Loretta Rlgby and Mrs. Elna Johnson John-son of Rexburg, and Wilford M. J. Merrill of New York City. Funeral services will be held in; the Logan Fourth ward chapel at; 1 p.m. on Friday with Interment, in -the Logan cemetery. Arrange-j ments are being made with tne Lindquist and Sons llo:"tuf.iT; , Friends may call at the home this evening and Friday forenoon until un-til time for the services.
