Show Flood Control ; Project Studied I Possibility that a flood control I project will be instituted on Sum-j Sum-j mit Creek, west of Smithfield, was revealed Wednesday when F. O. I Cronholm, Sacramento, California, representing the federal engineer's office, disoused the project with the Cache county commissioners. I Mr. Cronholm pointed out that ! considerable damage has resulted i from flood waters to high producing produc-ing land elong the banks of the creek near its junction with Bear River. He reported that plans are being drawn up and will be submitted to residents of the affected area for their consideration. If approved, a project will be carried out jointly by the federal governrnejnt end Smithfield citizens. Similar projects are underway on Logan and Little Bear rivers in central Cache Valley and one is being investigated by Mr. Cronholm Cron-holm on Blacksmith Fork river near Nibley. The commissioners approved purchase of a gravel pit near Cove from Erastus Johnson to provide materials for oiling roads in tit northern part of the county. Erection of a fire escape on tie new detention home which is being be-ing prepared at the rear of tie county coiirhouse, also was approved, ap-proved, according to H, Ray Pond commission chairman. |
