Show NORTH WEST MOUNTED AT MAIN THEATRE SUNDAY Gary Cooper and Madeleine Carroll, cast in the sort of romantic rom-antic roles which brought them to screen fame heas Dusty Riv ers, a Texas Ranger, and she as April Logan, a Gallant Nurse are the starring duo who head the huge cast of Cecil B. DeMille's "North West Mounted Police," wtoich Paramount will present on Sunday at the Main Theatre, the first epic by the master Producer Prod-ucer Director to have been made entirely in Technicolor. In keeping with the magnitude of his stars, DeMille has assembled assembl-ed an outstanding group of starring starr-ing players, heading the list are Paulett Goddard, cast as Lou-vette, Lou-vette, fascinating, tempestuos Indian In-dian girl; and Preston Foster and Robert Preston as Sergeant Jim Brett and Ronnie Logan, Mounted Policemen. Among the others are Akini Tamiroff, as Duroc; Lynne Overman in a comedy role as Tod McDuff; George Bancroft as the chief est heavy, Corbeau; Lon Cha-jiiey, Cha-jiiey, Jr. as a half-breed Metis; and Walter Hampden as Chief Big Bear. Always one to choose an important im-portant theme for his pictures, DeMille has elected to demonstrate demonst-rate the fortitude and courage of hte Mounted in this picture. As a basis for his plot, he has selected the famous Riel incident the attempt of one Louis Riel, played by Francis McDonald in the picture, and thousands of half -breeds under his 'leadership to run the Mounted Police out of Canada and to govern themselves. Other outstanding aspects of the production in addition to the magnitude of the cast and the epic quality of the story are the photographic backgrounds provided pro-vided by the skill of DeMille and a huge corps of assistants, and the prefection of the Technicolor, particularly effective in this production pro-duction because of the colorful backgrounds and uniforms. Some folks think it Is humiliating humiliat-ing to a man if his wife earns more money than he can. It is doubtful if many men refuse to get married on that account. |
