Show ANNUAL MILTflYlATT TO BE HELD TONIGHT AT DAIJSAfJTE O- o Special Guest j v- o . 1 Highlights of the .forty-seventh annual Military ball to be held Friday evening will be the "grand March" and intermission entertainment, Cadet Colonel Harold B. Hulme of Manti, general gen-eral chairman said last night as the advanced cadets of the Utah State Agricultural college Reserve Officers Training corps began polishing final arrangements for the fete. Featured in the "Grand March'' Chairman Hulme said, will be Governor Herbert B. Maw in -whose honor the ball is being given. In addition to the governor's gover-nor's staff other featured guests will include Dr. Elmer G. Peterson, Pe-terson, president of the college; F. P. Champ, president of the board of trustees; General W. G. "Williams of the Utah National Guard; Colonel M. A. Cross, commandant of the college R. O.T.C., and other colege staff members. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel John Welch of Logan, chairman of the ; ,i t -a k K GOV. HERBERT U. MAW "Grand March" and intermission committee, has arranged the march in a different manner this year, according to Hulme its conclusion, the colors will pass between the columns while the entire assemblage renders the i Pledge of Allegiance, lending additional color and interest to the festivities. During intermission the sponsors spon-sors of men's drill teams will perform and the Scabbard and .Blade, honorary military fraternity, fratern-ity, will present bars to its new initiates. The sponsor's drill team, . under the direction of Cadet Ma- . jor Bliss Mehr of Logan, is an innovation this year and should be of special interest. Cadet . Lieutenant Dean Stevenson of Logan, is in charge of the men's .drill team. The ball, one of the college's outstanding social events, has .been set to the theme, "The Stars and Stripes Forever," and in every way, according to the chairman, is embodying the spirit spir-it of national defense and patriotism. patriot-ism. The date of the affair takes place during National Defense week. |
