Show lqqal theatre to 1 have hew Manager Earl J. McClurg has become the proprietor of the Main Theatre. Mr. McClurg came to Smithfield three years ago to build a theater thea-ter but after moving his family here and beginning his plans, certain cer-tain other developments made It inadvisable for him to go aheaJ. - Mr. McClurg has had considerable consider-able experience in the show business, bus-iness, having been the proprietor of the Grand theatre at Preston, Idaho, for five years and a former for-mer manager of the Victory and Paramount theatres in Salt Lake City. He and his family come to Smithfield to make their home and cast their lot with the citizens citi-zens of Smithfield. Besides Mr. and Mrs. McClurg, there is an 8-year-old son, Lynn. Mrs. Melvin Benson of Pocatello was formerly Miss Leona McClurg, a daughter 1 of . Mr. and Mrs. McClurg. Leona I attended North Cache three years ago when her parents first moved to Smithfield. Besides being experienced In the theatre business Mr. McClurg was secretary of the chamber of commerce com-merce at Preston for five years. Two years ago he was appointed by Governor C. A. Bottolfsen as assistant manager of the state of Idaho liquor dispensary and was later made state manager of the Idaho liquor board, an appointment appoint-ment he held until recently when he was relieved by an appointee of Governor Chase Clark. Mr. McClurg is a native of Cache Valley having spent his youth at Weston, moving to Preston Pres-ton when he was twelve years old. Mrs. McClurg is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Treasure. 'A stock man now living at Downey, Idaho. He was born at Smithfield 75 years ago. All major company products will be shown at the Main theatre. thea-tre. The theater will be temporarily tempor-arily closed, Tuesday and Wednesday, Wednes-day, Feb. 25 and 26 for a grand reopening on February 27. |
