January 20, 1983 Page A9 On Wednesday, Jan. 26, a six-week class in clowning and juggling called "Circus Techniques" will begin. Sponsored by the Park City Recreation Department, the class will meet for one hour at 7 p.m. each Wednesday through the first week of March in the Memorial Building gym. The class was originally scheduled to begin last week but was postponed when instructor in-structor Steven Hunt was unexpectedly detained while visiting his home state of South Carolina. He's back now, and anxious to get the class rolling. "What we focus on in Circus Cir-cus Techniques will largely depend upon the class makeup who's in the class and what specific areas they want to spend their time on," says Hunt, adding that if there's enough turnout, the class might be split into youth and adult sections. "If the people who sign up are interested in juggling, we'll concentrate on that. If we do, and they work at it, they'll at least be able to juggle three objects by the time the class is over. "Other areas we'll probably probab-ly cover to some extent include in-clude basic clown improvisationdeveloping im-provisationdeveloping a clown character on your own. Such clowning involves physical humor funny things like pratfalls and slapstick stuff like giving somebody a fake kick in the pants or throwing fake punches pun-ches and taking a fake fall," says Hunt, adding that the emphasis will be on the kind of manic routines that comedy teams like the Marx Brothers and the Three I S f 4 ( V r$. p FOR THE SHOW! He has studied under un-der various mime masters such as the noted Japanese teacher Mamako, Claude Kipnis, Tom Leabhart and "Avner the Eccentric." He plans to put all his accumulated ac-cumulated knowledge and background to work in teaching Circus Techniques. He claims that the class will, at the very least, be one in which the stduents learn "how to impress your friends and be a big hit at the next party." Circus Techniques will start Wednesday, Jan. 26 and run for six consecutive weeks. The class will meet for one hour each Wednesday Wed-nesday at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Building gym.
