January 20, 1983 Page A3 Celebrities to star in Ski Team fundraiser The guest list includes Susan Anton, Dudley Moore, Linda Gray, William Shatner, Connie Stevens, Jack Nicholson, Jayne Kennedy, Sarah Purcell and 0. J.Simpson. The occasion? Johnny Carson's birthday? Well, no. But the event could give Park City a bit of coverage on the tube. . It's the eighth annual U.S. Ski Team Celebrity Classic, to be held here Feb. 9-12. Last year, the event proved to be the largest single fundraising activity of the 1982 season for the U.S. Ski Team, netting over $100,000. It included everything from parades to parties to grudge matches on the slopes. This year's gala event, produced in conjunction with the Osmond Family, will feature a mixture of celebrity ski racing, entertainment arid social functions. It will be held at both the Park City Ski Area and the Deer Valley Resort. "One of the best reasons to throw a party," explained U.S. Ski Team Executive Director Inez Aimee, "is to raise funds for the U.S. Ski Team. Our objectives are two-fold. First of all, to invite our patrons to share a great time with our athletes and the entertainers, and secondly, to generate monies. The Celebrity Classic has proved to be an unqualified success on both counts." U.S. Ski Team members slated to attend the event include 1982 World Cup downhill runnerup Holly Flanders, U.S. National downhill champion Cindy Oak and National Team members Maria Maricich and Pam Fletcher. Women's World Cup downhill coach Ernst Hager is also scheduled sched-uled to be in attendance. Celebrity Classic events on tap will include a fireworks display, a torchlight parade, celebrity ski races, and numerous entertainment entertain-ment and social events, culminating culminat-ing with a Black Tie and Blue Jeans Party on the final evening. All contributions, made to the U.S. Ski Educational Foundation, will benefit the U.S. Ski Team and are tax deductible. to itDn IMnton0 Thanks Dear Editor: I wish to publicly thank the Park City Fire Department for their timely response to a possibly serious situation at Treasure Mountain Middle School on the morning of Wednesday, January 12, 1983.
