City Planner Bill Ligety throws up his hands in frustration after a Planning Commission meeting on the new 3,000-unit development, Mammoth Hollow. The wide-spread Hollow project involved so many realty firms, architects, and developers that the commission discovered everyone had a conflict of interest and had to leave the room . Taking advantage of the opportunity to seize power, Ligety said, "After considering my recommendation, I feel I can pass this project, pending staff review by me. " Candidates filing for county Several new hats have been thrown in the ring, while at least two familiar ones are conspicuously absent ab-sent in the filings for public offices in Summit County. Candidates began filing last Thursday, and have until April 26 to announce. One new face is Fred Eley, who is running for the four-year term as county sheriff. Current Sheriff Ron Robinson, a familiar face in that post for nearly 20 years, apparently does not plan to run again. Also up for grabs in the November election is the four-year County Commission Commis-sion seat currently occupied by William Wallin, and the two-year post held by Carl Ovard. No candidates for the Woman on If you see a woman walking up Main Street dressed in a police officer's uniform, don't be misled into thinking she's an extra left over from the filming of "Incident at Crestridge." She is, in fact, an officer, the first female to join the Park City Police Department. Police Chief Frank Bell said that Nancy Carroll, 30, began patrol work for the police department on Monday. Mon-day. She has several years experience on the San Jose, Calif, police force. While no candidate can-didate has filed for the post, it was learned that Pace is on vacation. Cathy Dallin has filed for the four-year treasurer's term, currently held by Donna Frost. Incumbent Robert Adkins plans to try again for his four-year sting as county attorney, while Leo Frazier is attempting to hold on to his job as county assessor. Other offices open to qualified persons are for the beat a panel made up of Bell and several other local officers. Carroll is the newest member of the force, but not for long. Next Monday, Kip Ingersoll will take her place as the newest kid on the police block. Ingersoll, 26, most recently worked on the security force for Weber State College, said Chief Bell. Bell said he intends to hire one more officer to bring the police force to a total of 13. A thief must have been short on a change of clothes, because he stole a set belonging belong-ing to Malcolm West of Park City. West told police that a backpack with jeans, rugby shirt, running shoes, belt and wallet were stolen from the parking lot of the Alpha Beta March 25. The value of the items was placed at $100. In other incidents: Texas resident Dan D. Lion was arrested last Friday Fri-day night for disturbing the peace. The 25-year-old man, described as having yellowish yellow-ish hair and a greenish cast stemming, perhaps, from too much alcohol was booked after police found him bellowing "Pick me, pick me!" on Main Street. Officers said Lion apparently apparent-ly was annoying passersby by offering himself up for use in a salad. More than $800 worth of jewelry was listed as stolen March 26 by a visitor to the Sweetwater Condominiums on Empire Avenue. Missing from a zippered bag from a bedroom were two necklaces, neck-laces, a bracelet, two pairs of earrings and two rings. Karen and George Sachs of Poway, Calif, tried to keep their skis from being stolen, but their efforts were foiled. They told police they separated separ-ated their skis while inside eating at the Park City Ski Area March 29 making an unmatched pair from one of each of their skis. But a thief must not have minded that they were an odd set and stole a pair, leaving the Sachs with one ski each.
