Show P News and views . . . by Blaine Jones Last week most of the county agents from the state were in Logan for a' training Worthington since 1 got back and I understand that they had a pretty good meeting and discussion on the drought problem as it exists in Juab County. I think many on the committee were pretty much aware of the situation but the meeting gave them a little closer look and they are really aware of the problems we are having. Speaking of the drought, it is surprising how many people I hear say, We dont have any problem. The drought is not really serious. We have had a few storms and we are all right now. I for one am not convinced that this is the case. From the information that I get I think we are really hurting and I think if we look around a little we can see that this is the case. I get reports that in our area our reservoir work- shop. We had a very good training session. We received a little bit of updating 1 in the modern ? type of beef cat- - Blaine Jones tie, sheep and swine that are being developed for the market. We also received some training on working with youth in the horse and livestock projects that we have. We received considerable encouragement on working with you in field crop, horticulre and weed projects. We would like to see some of the young people from this area enroll in these projects. There are some state and national contests in which young people can compete in crop judging, weed er- pA 4-- The Times-New- 14-1- 5 percent of normal and maybe worse than what people have seen in many years. I still want to encourage all of you to be very careful and efficient in your use of water and be aware that the problem is still here. We are going to have some trouble if we dont get a lot of rain. Dr. Morris Taylor advises us that there has been a proposal that would reduce freight rates on feed grains and other agricultural products coming into Utah.
