Show THE TIMES-NEW- S, NEPIII, UT AH. NEPHI HIGH SCHOOL NEWS FROM THE N. H. S. CLARION OPERA O'HARA SAN 10 A STUDENT BODY The Nephi High School should have a High School Constitution and A Student Body Court because a constitution is a fundamental It Is the body of rules by law of any state, society, or corporation. which a state, society of corporation is governed. It determines Its' relations to other organizations and also to its own members. In 1781 the United States accepted the Articles of Confederation and because it realized that to keep the country independent and make the people progressive it was necessary to have rules or laws. In a short time the Nation came to the realization that the Articles of Confederation were inadequate and that it must have a stronger The opera, O Hara Sau, under tae direction o Air. bird will be presented at the Venice Theatre in the near future. Everyone says that the school Is lacking in school spirit. That the students do not support their student body officers. That they are continuely infringing on other peoples rights. Almost everyday some teacher in the faculty will say to Ms class, "I have never seen a body of students so lacking in duty and respect to their school and teachers. Something must be done about it. I really thing they should be given a good lecture." The students get enought lectures. What they need is a constitution. They need laws which will tell them what they can do and what they cannot do. They need a court to decide when the students are wrong and when the faculty is wrong. The students wish to make friends of their teachers not enemies. They want to please them, not displease them. They want to be a success in their school work; in their school activities; and in their social or public life. They want to support their student body officers. They want to make their High School the best in Utah. They want to give it To do so they must have a the best name and the greatest fame. constitution and student body court. Faculty, they need your support and help more this year than it has ever been needed in the history of the Nephi High School. Why? Because this is a year of little money and great responsibility, and because there are more younger inexperienced students in school this year than ever before. There la more life, ambition and greater desire to go ahead. Teachers, you are older than they, you have had more experience. You have more authority and influence. Now stand behind them and help them this time, as you have always done in the past. Meet with the student body officers and arrange to have a constitution to begin the new year with. Everybody is busy, especially the teachers, but don't rest contented until a constitution and a student body court have been ushered into the N. H. S. Let's be sure to have them to begin the new year with. They will The public will immediately see a pay the students and teachers. new and better student body. The teachers will come to the sudden realization that they have new and better students. The students will find that the teachers aren't half so bad as they once thought they were, and then with law and order they will never have any long disagreeable lectures, on disapline, no more cross ' teachers, (because teachers are never cross when students are doing their best) and there wil be no more petty quarrels betweeen the different classes and organizations, because there will be a constitution which will teach them what to do and court to decide how to do it. opera.
