More than 2,000 students submitted applications for review. Awards ranged from 1 year to 4 years, encompassing a variety of to ing for admission until after the first of the year," Allen explains. The SLTU Rolling Scholarship program invites and encourages students to apply early, i.e. before the first of the year. As soon as an application arrives, we review it and determine if the student is eligible to receive an award, and let them know presently" Allen says. This categories including: Academic, Leadership, Multiway, the earlier a student cultural, and a number of applies, the earlier she finds out if she has been granted a special awards given to students for their participation scholarship, and the earlier in academic programs like she may make a decision to Utah Girls State and scholarenroll at SUU. Allen guarantees that ship competitions hosted by the University. SUL1 is the students who do not apply first Institution in the state earlier, but wait until close to award scholarships on a to the deadline are just as Rolling program which allows prospective college students to be notified if theyve received a scholarship to SUU, earlier. The new program will facilitate unusually timely notification to students considering attending SUU. Most, if not all institutions establish a rigid deadline to apply for scholarships, Steve Allen, SCUs Executive Director of. Enrollment Management, states. Its not until after the deadline that they begin looking at the applications and considering the recipients. What SUU now does in its Rolling Scholarship program actually assists college-bounstudents in their decisionmaking process. We are giving the students all the information they need to make a decision earlier, rather than making them wait on word from the institution. And, SUU wall be on their minds, Allen says. The actual deadline for new students who would begin attending college in the fall semester to apply for an academic scholarship is d February 1. Research confirms that the majority of college-bounstudents do not begin apply d eligible and likely to receive a scholarship. "In essence, there is no disadvantage for choosing to apply later, but there is certainly advantage to applying earlier, Allen declares. By positioning SUU as the only school in the state to offer a student a scholarship early in the year, that student will be more inclined to remember SUU and be more interested in attending, Allen emphasizes. Academic scholarship applicants are considered on the basis of test cores and GPA. Recipients must maintain at least a 3.6 GPA to retain their award. Hovv-art- Adam Leavitt.
