Every technique, however, seems to either eat up more dollars in manufacture than could be saved, or the government finds a reason to keep the product off the market. But a recently incorporated company, intent on solving both problems, is marketing a product dubbed as an energy saving device. Unity Power Systems Utah, Inc. is distributing something called a transient suppressor, which according to the company guarantee, 2 will save at least percent on a monthly electric about some LOS ANGELES Sunday thru Friday Next morning delivery in-bou- nd and out-boun- d! 7-1- Adotphic CargoExecutive Enterprises Terminal Salt Lake International (801) Airport, 533-081- bill. WHY NOT USE THE COMPANY THAT PERFORMS FOR YOU -THE CUSTOMER!! Paul Wakefield, manager, the device eliminates power surges by grounding them before they travel through the system. Wakefield said such surges occur from high voltage uses and equipment-machinerand typewriters being turned on and off. When these transients are eliminated, a more efficient utilization of energy results and consequently a reduction in kilowatt hours, Wakefield said. Wakefield indicated the manufacturing and commercial user would benefit most from the conservation device because a percent savings could be more easily used to amortize the cost of a transient surpressor. "A company with a $1000 a month electric bill would save at least $75 and could pay for the equipment in a two year period, Wakefield explained. Utah Power and Light is supportive of the device, which adds to its future security in the market place. Wakefield said UP&L is interested in any device that conserves energy and views it as a stop gap y, 7-- 12 measure to ease the pressure for new pow'er plants. The conservation mechanism's original design came in the form of a problem solver, Wakefield noted. Big office buildings with complex computer systems and many fluorescent lights and elevators were plagued with power surges that confused the computer program, made short life of light bulbs and muddled the elevator call buttons, the manager explained. The culprit was the transient and only after the transient was eliminated was it also found to be an energy conserving device. The product has been manufactured in California for over four years, but western distributor locations w ere owned by Golden Berg Enterprises, Inc. in the east and only until recently have they acted on their distributorships. Wakefield said over 2000 systems are in service throughout the country and such institutions as Trolley Square and Granite Mill and Fixture locally have acquired the device. Logos or Not? The scenic calendar, published annually by the Utah Travel Council, may soon become available to businesses for distribution to customers. According to Ken Kraus, information director, the Council needs to know how many calendars local businesspeople may want, and whether they would like logos and messages printed on the back cover. He is asking interested business-peopl- e to contact him at Council Hall, Capitol Hill, 84114. CONCORDE REALTORS announces Brent L. Dabb Has joined our staff as a Real Estate Counsellor.
