Show Early Pioneer Lady Summoned By Death Anna Maria Christina Clemer.sen, one of Mt. Pleasants's early pioneer ladies died at her home last Monday morningMuly 14th at 2 o'clock a. m. Mrs. Clemensen was born at Lange land, Denmark, Feb. 6, 1827. She was married to Ole Nicholas Clemensen Clem-ensen November 9th 1853. They came to America in the month of October in the year 1862 and started west for Utah Crossing the plains in a company led by Capt. Murdock. They made theis home at Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. Her husband djed August 26, 1863 leaving her with' five children to care for. She wa a mother of sterl ing integrity and a noble character. All her children survive her and three are living in this city. They are: Mrs. Abner Crane, George M. and Ole N. Clemensen of Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, also Mrs. Eli B. Kelsey of Salt Lake and N. E. Clemensen of San Anselmo, Calif. Funeral services were held at her home Wednesday at 2 o'clock p. m. Rev. Martin of Manti conducted the services. Sacred music was furnished furnish-ed by the Misses Winnifred and Frances Jensen, Whittelsey, Lovell and Mrs. John Meeker, Pres. C. N. Lund spoke with endearing terms of the character of this noble woman. wo-man. He told of her early life and her success in rearing a good family after the misfortune of loosing her companion at an early date. She was indeed a good mother and a woman of strong personality. per-sonality. She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and was a true Christain. There was a large number of her friends and relatives in attendance at the funeral. Many beautiful flowers were given in memory of a departed friend. Mrs. Clemensen was 86 years old and had lived a good life, rich in spirit and deed. Her body was laid at rest in the Mount Pleasant cemetery. |
