Show ' MORONI ! By Special Correspondence Mrs. Maud Robinson Acord Is Honored on 85th Birthday Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Little entertained enter-tained last Sunday in honor of Mrs. Maud Robinson Acord on her Soth birthday. Mr. Little is her grandson. She was born at Springville, Utah on Oct 18th, 1857. Her parents were John Robinson and Emma Lucas Robinson. Rob-inson. When she was 2 years of age the family moved to Spring City where they resided most of their life. On March 24, 1872 she married Abram Acord in the Salt Lake Endownment House and later 9 children were born unto them, two of whom are living: Mrs. L. S. Tenney and Mrs. Ralph Bennet both of El Paso, Texas. She has one brother, William E. Robinson, Robin-son, age 81 years, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Allred, age 87 years, both of Spring City, Utah; also Id grandchildren amd 20 great grandchildren. She has spent 25 years in the colonies in Diez, Mexico. She spends each summer sum-mer with Mr. and Mrs. Little in Moroni and the winters with her daughters in Texas and she left last Monday to join them in the lone star state. Relatives and friends of Mrs. Annie Nielson met at her home last Wednesday, the occasion being be-ing her 62nd birthday anniversary. anniver-sary. The time was spent in a pleasant social hour. There were 30 present including 5 of her children and families as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Olson and family of Spring Citiy; Mr. and Mrs. Odell Huggins and family of Fountain Green; Mr. and Mrs.. Arthur Bohlih and family of Moroni and Miss Glenda Nielsen and Clinton Nielsen. Mr; and Mrs.Don Seeley and infant son of Salt Lake City spent last week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Peterson. The Stake M. I. A. officers announce an-nounce the Stake Harvest Ball which will be held in the "Old Bungalow" on Halloween, Oct. 31st and all are requested to wear aprons and overalls. Every one is invited to be in attendance. attend-ance. The "Bridge Club" has been recently re-organized and renamed. re-named. It is now called the "Book of the Month Club," due to the fact that a new book is received and studied each month at their meetings. They are planning plan-ning on a very noteworthy project, pro-ject, that of donating all of the books they receive this winter to the Moroni Public Library at the end of the season. The members mem-bers of this club are as follows: Alice Bruno, Florence Little, Maud Sumsion, Ivy Anderson, Clara Nelson, Minnie Livingston, Alida Christensen, Inez Christensen, Chris-tensen, Isabelle Kellett, DeOra Blackham, Mrs. Thomas Dodg-son, Dodg-son, Lucile Nelson and Dorothy Jolley. Preparations are now being made by the Stake M. I. A. boards for the individual ward Road Shows. They will be held on Nov. 24th. A baby boy was born at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cloward on Oct. 4th and it passed pass-ed away shortly after its birth. Mr. and Mrs. EuRay Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Taylor of Salt Lake City spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Larson at Moroni. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Johnson announce an-nounce the arrival of a granddaughter grand-daughter at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Carlson of Fairview on Oct 10th. The mother was formerly for-merly Miss Erma Bluham of Moroni. Mrs. D. A. Little entertained the "Book of the Month club" last week at her home. The life of Thomas Bailey Aldrich was given in a most interesting manlier man-lier by Mrs. Virgie Frame of Mt. Pleasant, after which light refreshments re-freshments were served. Mrs. J. W. Christensen received word last week of the serious illness ill-ness of her sister, Mrs. Mary J. Longmore, age 83 years. She is residing at San Diego, California. A party was given on Oct. 14th by Mrs. D. A. Little in honor of her young son, David on his 7th birthday anniversary. Games were played and delicious refreshments re-freshments were served. There were 17 present. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Livingston are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl on Oct. 5th. Mr. Livingston was given a 10 days furlough and will return to the service this week. Since the opening of the deer j season last Saturday there have been many family reunions in Moroni, not only of the hunters, but their wives and families as 1 well, who have visited among relatives and friends while their j husbands were out in the hills. Many deer have been brought I into town by those who were I "lucky." Ben Cloward was taken to the j St. Marks hospital Monday where it was necessary to undergo under-go an operation. He is reported to be in a very serious condition. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Bird of Logan Lo-gan and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Draper of Salt Lake City spent ! last week-end at the home of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Men-nels Men-nels Draper. ! Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Seeley and family have gone to McGill, Nevada for employment at that place. Mrs. Margaret Jacobsen an-, an-, nounce the arrival of a grandson at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Ber-nard Jacobson of Salt Lake City on October 17th. The mother was formerly Miss Betty Scow of Mt. Pleasant. Work has now begun at the Moroni Turkey Processing Plant. Operations began on Tuesday and the processing will be on in full swing by the end of the week. This will furnish employment employ-ment for many people in the nearby communities for several months. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Monsen of McGill Nevada spent last weekend week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Monsen. |
