Show Fairview Local Matron To Be Feted On Her 80th Birthday An open house celebration in honor of Mrs. Caroline Christen-sen Christen-sen Madsen, who is celebrating her eightieth birthday anniversary anniver-sary today will be held in the Fairview South Ward chapel at 2 p. m. Saturday. Refreshments will be served and a program has been arranged ar-ranged featuring numbers by her family and friends. Mrs. Madsen was born in Fairview March 26, 1863, a daughter of Andrew and Annie Seversen Christensen, and has been a Fairview resident all of her life. She recalls how she rode in a wagon to Nephi where she boarded the train for the first time in her life to journey to Logan where she was married mar-ried in the Logan Temple to Hans Madsen, son of Mads and Ellen Madsen of Mt. Pleasant on October 26, 1887. Her husband hus-band died January 27, 1930. Mrs. Madsen reads well, has an excellent memory and spends a considerable part of her time knitting. She has become an artist in making rugs and has everal made now for "future family marriages". She has six living sons and daughters who are: Merlin H. Madsen, Fairview; Farrell D. Madsen and Mrs: Leah Nielson, Provo- Mrs. ATap Jensen. Ricti- field, and Mrs. Elva Peterson, Glendale, Calif. All are expected expect-ed to be present at the celebration. celebra-tion. Mrs. Madsen also has 21 living grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren. 1 . ' Caroline Madsen, 80 Years Elder K. Lamond Rigby, son of William E. and Mary M. Rig-by, Rig-by, will be honored at a farewell fare-well party Saturday at the Fairview North ward chapel. A program will be rendered after ! which a dance in the amusement amuse-ment hall will take place. Elder Rigby is a graduate of North Sanpete high school and also the L. D. S. Seminary. He has had employment at Mountain Moun-tain Motors Co., Salt Lake City. FAI3VIEW I I By Adeql Rqsmussen (continued from front page) A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Reed Madsen Saturday, March 20 at a Moroni hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hamilton were paid a visit by their son Darwin. Darwin is in the Navy and returned to San Diego Sunday Sun-day after a fifteen day leave. Afton Anderson spent the weekend in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Anderson. She was accomanied back to Fair-view Fair-view by Mr. and Mrs. Anderson. Wednesday, March 24 the Fairview Jayoees held a genera; meeting in the City Hall. The purpose of the meeting was tt make plans for the Dairy Day celebration. A representative of the Clover Leaf Dairy was present pres-ent and spoke on the program and assisted in planning the coming celebration. Miss Elaine Rigby, a student at the University of Utah, i; visiting with Dr. and Mrs. S. B Rigby. The Fairview North Ward Sunday Sun-day School will have an unusua' Easter program. Following the preliminaries a movie on the life of Christ, including the crusi-fixtion crusi-fixtion will be shown. The Fairview South Ward's Easter services will proceed in the following manner: Prayer. Virginia Anderson; scriptural readings, Veda Peterson, Orson Miner, Billy Lawrence and Donald Don-ald Clement. A musical numbei will be offered by a quartet anc, Jack. Sanders will give a talk. The Democratic districts 1 and 2 of Fairview, elected the following follow-ing officers for the '48 elections: District 1 Chairman, J. Edwin Miner; vice chairman, Lola Fowles; secretary and treasurer, Olive Coons; board of directors Reed C. Lasson, Ed Coons and Lloyd Vance. The delegates to the county convention aie. Aaron L. Cheney, Dae Coons, Don Cox and J. Edwin Miner. District 2 Chairman, Ira Gar-lick- vice chairman, Laura Vance; secretary and treasurer, Hyrum Erickson; board of directors, direc-tors, Arthur Day, Ross Vance and Rich Mills. The delegates to the county convention are: Ira Garlick, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Vance and Harry Zabriskie. Friday, April 2 the Fairview Jaycees are sponsoring an Apri.' Fool's Day dance. The dance is a fund raising project. Music will be furnished by Easton Moffitt and his Manti orchestra. |
