entalks and joy valuable visit going to and coming home from the city The girls Teresa and Dena stayed home to care for mom Laura Lee who is recuperating from major back surgery She has been home two weeks and was in the hospital at Utah Valley in Provo for two weeks We wish for you a very speedy and complete recovery for better health our good neighbor Laura Lee Don and llena Tomkinson enjoyed several days visit with their friends Gerald and Beth Hubbard and their children Andrea and Drew They were guests of the Tomkinsons July Ilena and Beth did a considerable amount of copying genealogy The Hubbards and Tomkinsons left Thursday morning for Salt Lake City The Tomkinsons were on business They visited with their son and Andy and Sherril and four children Three of the children Trisha DELTA Eddys Barben Ph: members of the Laurence and Arlean Wood Bennett family me at a reunion at the Gunnison Bend Reservoir on Saturday August Families of President and Mrs Bennett (who just returned from mission as President of the Lita tle Rock Arkansas Mission) Eddys and Archie Barben Mrs Ada B Roesner and Mrs LaRue B Willden were all present A delicious meal was served and fun and games were enjoyed by all Lupo the Clown was present to entertain and made novelty balloons for all the children Door prizes were given and names were drawn for special gifts It was fun for everyone Some of the families stayed overnight in Delta and enjoyed some good visiting A large crowd of family members were at the Salt Lake Airport on Tuesday July 28 to welcome President and Mrs Bennett home again Arch and Eddys Barben were in attendance and enjoyed a fun day visiting Mr A Gordon Barben and seven children of St George UT visited Fri- - USPS Thurs Aug 6 197 Cherry and Gabriel accompanied their grandparents to Flowell Grandma ena plans to do some sewing (which she enjoys very much) for her little twin granddaughters Cherry and Trisha getting their school clothes ready Diana Fuller and daughter Michelle traveled to Cedar City July 27 They are attending a youth seminar there They will also visit their daughter and sister Delinda and her husband Michael Edison The latter tends school at SUSC Mrs Jerry Freeman made a business trip to Salt Lake City July 29 Clarice Hurd and children Connie Michael and Michelle and the latter’s friend Lynea Krukieweiz arrived at Clarice’s mother Ruth Allen’s home July 23 They enjoyed the 24th of July festivities here They returned to their Orem homes July 26 They also visited with Clarice’s brothers Dean and wife Shirley Rex his wife Lynn and their children while here Bob and Zoe Christensen are very happy with their new little grandson born July 28 on grandma Zoe’s birthday Isn’t that a special birthday gift Little Coty Robert was born at the Fillmore Hospital and weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 20V inches long His happy proud First time parents are Terry and Fae Christensen of Fillmore Also in Fillmore resides little Coty’s great grandparents and in Delta great grandma Thera Tolbert makes her home in Calif another set of grandparents parents Charles and Shirley Dunson all of these grand and great grandparents add their welcome to tle Coty day and Saturday in Delta with parents Arch and Eddys Barben They also tended the football game in Salt Lake Friday evening where their son Bret Barben participated by playing in the game family members of the Church family met together one evening last week at the home of Mrs Deona Black to celebrate the many birthdays happening in July in the family The adult birthdays were Lathel Callister Finlinson Ned Lyman Church Mrs Mel Church (Marilyn) and many grandchildren-tmany to t mention They had a delicious with lots of good food They played games and enjoyed the party very much together Phillip Black of Salt Lake was also in attendance Mr Keith and Pauline Tolbert of ID spent the weekend in Montpelier Delta with their mother Mrs Deona Black and visited family members in the area They also attended the wedding of Amy and Frank Roberts in Sutherland Saturday evening Amy is the daughter of John Black and the late Jolene Black On Sunday Mrs Joe Stewart and sisters Ethel Boyd?n and Carol Stewart drove to Cedar City and then on up to Cedar Mountain where they enjoyed ABRAHAM Phyllis Johnson Ph: Jan Turner and children JT Leah Brandi and Ch’ree have spent part of July in Moab with Jan’s sister Sue Hill and husband Mike and children and her grandmother Verona Stocks While they were there they went to Dead Horse Point and other points of terest Jan enjoyed a raft trip with the YSI group Jan brought Cassandra and Jovina Hill here to stay a few days and left JT in Moab They went back to Moab for the July 24th Celebration Jan’s 85 Verona Stocks year old grandmother was Grand Marshall of the Day Being a lifelong resident of the area she gave a speech about the boom and bust times of Moab Jan and the kids came home this week after a good visit with her family Daughter Ann Bates came with them to stay for a week On July 20 Charlene Brunner suffered a stroke and a blood clot in the lung Elaine Petersen and Jamie Reilly took her to Salt Lake to the LDS Hospital where she was in critical condition for several days Reports today are that she is showing some improvement She is being moved to the Holy the beautiful scenery and spent the day On Saturday August family members of the Vera and WB Hilton family met in Delta for a famireunion Six of their seven children ly were present for the reunion They all made a tour of the Hilton Historic spots in the area They traveled to Abraham Utah to the site of their first home There was not much left there but enough to identify the location of the old home They visited the Hinckley Cemetery and the old Hilton home in standing Also in Hinckley they visited their old garage built by WB Hilton in 1919 They visited the Millard Academy site (Hinckley High School) where Mrs Vera Hilton taught school for 4 years She taught Science and all the Math classes They all traveled then to Delta and visited the Delta Garage and Motortorium building which the family owned and operated for many years They then visited the Delta Cemetery After this tour they all went to the Hilton home in Delta where Mrs Vera Hilton still lives and enjoyed a delicious pot luck lunch They enjoyed a good visit together and also had a business meeting Mrs Hilton’s daughter Carol from Denver CO is still in Delta and will visit with her mother for a few more days The reunion was a great success and enjoyed by everyone Tarling from Parker AZ and Elaine Petersen have been with her most of the time Other family members have been up to see her Vera King from Bountiful spent a week here with Lola Stoneking They enjoyed getting together with other family members while she was here Marilyn and Janice Tenney went to Arizona Marilyn went to Tucson and Red Rock where she visited Veronica Tenney Tom and Sandy Tenney and Clay and Ronella White and children Janice visited her mother in Mesa and Marilyn spent some time with a sister in Mesa Loretta and Aaron came home with them after a vacation in Arizona A1 and Helen Marie Sutton came from Clover to take Lola Stoneking to spend the July 24th weekend in Kanab with Don and Lois Chaplin On Saturday Don took them out on Lake Powell in his boat Lola and the Suttons returned home Sunday The Jackson family reunion was held on July 25th in Nephi Canyon Family members who attended were Bernard and Nella Jackson and family from Sutherland Russell and Grace Jackson and family Nephi Lloyd and Melba Jackson and family Moses Lake WA Jim and Maxene Owens and family Delta Robert and Ruth Anderson and family Ogden and Shirley Austin and daughter Judy from San Diego CA Leone and Erma Croft from Henderson NV spent the holiday weekend with Garland and Phyllis Johnson and Ike and Phyllis Anderson LaVoy Tobert is spending a few days here with Cleone Tolbert helping make repairs around her house Cleone says she has been operating under Murphy’s Law this summer Hopefully her luck will change when LaVoy gets things ed up The Sherril Tolbert family are in Pueblo CO for the National High School Rodeo They attended the Little Britches Rodeo in Grand Junction Troy Tolbert won All Around Cowboy at Grand Junction and his prize was a nice saddle The rodeo in Pueblo will end on August 2 Spending the last two weeks with Jay and Luena Fullmer have been their granddaughter Terry Brush and friend from Henderson NV Trula Abbott went with her granddaughter Linda Croft to the north rim of the Grand Canyon for the July 24th Weekend Don and Dorothy Croft and Gary and Sandy Croft and children met them there Billie Jean McCollam recently spent a few days at the home of Paul and Emily McCollam and girls She is Paul’s mother She was traveling from Texas to Corvallis OR where the family will be living Mr McCollam and the children have been in Oregon for a month Mrs McCollam has been studying in Texas and has recently received her masters degree SUTHERLAND Dora Rose Ph: Veneta Kelsey and brother Clinton Bond were visitors of the Heber Roses last week Neta and Clinton were former residents of Clear Lake where their folks owned and operated the store hotel and post office They were living there at the same time we were there and many other people were there also Neta is now living at Springville UT and Clinton lives at Meadow where their mother was originally from Sarah Fowles is reovering from eye Brice and Gwen Chappell surgery (daughter) brought her home from the She is doing fine now and hospital hopes for marked improvement forthcoming Geavette Sampson another and Sarah’s son Frank daughter Fowles and his two sons came to help Sarah until until she is doing better The two boys stayed with her as their father was compelled to be on the job We send our deepest sympathy to Lana Byrd for the passing of her husband Ray and to his parents and all the family members Congratulations to all our friends for their weddings and to our granddaughter Debbie Rose and our grandson Ty Scott Robinson They will be married on the August Debbie in the Salt visit with Phyllis’ parents Bob and Verla Jenson We met two Barben relatives from Syracuse NY who came to visit that none of us had met They were very excited to find they had so many relatives in Utah They had Sunday dinner with Bob and Verla Jensen then visited Ralph and June Lounsbury and Lois Greene Monday afternoon and stayed all night visit with the Rulon Jones also were their daughters Carolyn and John Schwab and family from Salt Lake City and Tammy Simmons and children ID Carolyn is the from Rexburg Relief Society President in her ward Bunker son of Little Christopher Clyde and Nan Bunker was hurt pretty seriously when he accidently fell at his grandthe door storm through parent’s home Christopher was cut badly about his face chest and arms which requires stitching by the orthopedic surgeon at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo There was no nerve damage or muscle damage He was very fortunate for this This accident could have cut an artery and came very close to doing so To visit with Eugene and Nayon John Ohran Young were grandson from Provo and granddaughters Amidey Hersh and two sisters Kacie and Brooke Kacie and Brooke returnID ed to their home in Rexburg Amidey is still with the Youngs Mr Oswald Johnson was overjoyed to receive a visit from his sister and from Florida To visit also with Oswald were daughter Sally and DeRay Brush and children from Salt Lake Nita Gronning returned from a trip a to Arizona where she attended friend’s funeral Heber’s brother John Rose and wife wife Marion and Art Rose and Lucy were here last week to visit with the Roses They are from Ogden Mrs Afton Briggs and Fran Briggs from Salina were visitors of the Michael Roses Ed and Dawn Jensen were here to visit with folks Bert and Norma Jensen They lost their infant daughter of 2 weeks old A graveside service was held for her Norma Jensen spent two days and two nights in a condominium at Park City with all of her daughters It was an enjoyable time for all of them To visit with the Bert Johnsons were daughter Evelyn and Carl Larsen and family from Price Utah Mrs Eugene Losee had an immediate family reunion at Grassy Lake over by Orangeville They had four enjoyable days They fished boated played games and in the evening enjoyed stories around the campfire Those helping to make it enjoyable were Mrs Roger Shurtz and family from Enoch Mrs Floyd Hastings and family West Valley City Mrs Bob Allred and family Deseret Mrs Steven Losee and family West Jordan Mrs Warren Allen and family Orangeville and last but not least parents June and Eugene Losee They all had a super good time Mrs Tony Clark had their daughter Diana Woodlief from Beaverton OR visit with them for about 10 days When she went home she took her sister Linda Lee Clark with her for a visit |
