Fillmore 25 South Utah 100 West MWMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAff Utah IJbrary Convention What a great learning experience we had at the Association’s Annual convention This year it was held in Ogden--response to the many requests to have the meetings outside of Salt Lake City for a change This was the second first was change we have attended-tin Park City two years ago The Ogden Hilton was an ideal setting with ample space for department meetings and also general sessions The hotel reduced the rates for the librarians staying there April 26 through April 29 One thing very valuable to us outside the Wasatch Front was the emphases on small libraries There are fewer of us of course but we cover a much wider area geographically and as librarians we are sure our patrons are as important as anybody Three authors presented very teresting talks about their books and their experiences in writing them Marilyn Sacks who has written 25 children’s books is going home and look up President Fillmore and also Brigham Young She has become terested in learning about them from meeting with us in Utah Her home is in San Francisco but she was raised in New York We purchased several of her books to go along with those we already have and they are personalis to the readers at the autographed Millard Fillmore Library a While waiting for the autograph librarian beside me said “Oh Fillmore just love Fillmore really do” There was not time to find out what that was but it started because something another woman whom we later learned was Vickie Turner from American Fork said her mother was raised in Fillmore and she loved it too Mrs Turner presented wonder! ul puppet ideas in the sharing session where we presented our unusual activity The specific activity we displayed and talked about was our Story Festival using young Writers Artists Presenters from the Middle School These were named in last week’s column We presented all of them with our unique Pres Fillmore book marks and placed the writers’ work out of many young for display After the Dancing Days The second author we have an autographed copy ot is Margaret Rowskowski from Ogden who has written a book especially for Middle School patrons This book is about Annie who becomes interested in wounded war veterans This is quite logical because her father is a doctor w ho has spent his last two years in the First World War The story is fascinating Art Show Be sure to see the beautiful show in the library Ma 2 through May 31 The library will be closed for Memorial Day on May 30 Morgan Kyle Kesler 1st birthday celebrated celebrated
