DHS class of 1932 reunion held Class reunion for 1932 classmates of Delta High School was held Saturday May 23 1987 at the ME Bird Senior Citizen Center in Delta Utah Guests started arriving at 6 pm Classmate Woods of Reliance Jones "Riley” Delta was chairperson Woodruff Stout of Bountiful was Master of Ceremonies The evening began with the Cloggers rendering a half an hour program Prayer and blessing on the food was given by Murray Perkins of Whittier A delicious banquet was California catered and served by Top’s City Cafe of Delta Candlelight Ceremony was given by LaVon Wilcox Taylor accompanied on the organ by Reliance Jones Wood A class mate news bulletin was given by Reliance Wood Dr Iliff Jeffery of Provo gave his remembrances of some school happenings He then sang two songs and accompanied himself on the guitar Carlyle Gronning of Salt Lake City paid tribute to teachers Violet Snow of Delta and Afton Finlinson Oborn of Spencer Robison Special Scout A very impressive Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held in historic Cove Fort on the evening of Sunday May 17 for the Meadow Ward Scout Troop 206 Payson Itha Steele Ahlstrom of McGill Nevada rendered a patriotic reading that she gave in 1932 entering a contest sponsored by the American Legion She won a Gold Medal for her The Court of Honor was especially meaningful for Eagle recipient Spencer Robison because his mother Pamela had lived at the fort for 10 years and it had been the Kesler home for four generations After a warm welcome from Lloyd Robison Scout Committee Chairman the posting of the colors was handled The evening by Scouts of the Troop began with Ginger Robison playing one of the old pump organs still att he fort and Sharia Starley leading the audience in singing “Put Your Shoulder To The Wheel” Opening Prayer was given by Dustan Starley and badges Scout advancements were given: Dustan Starley received his Life Scout Ryan Talbot 2nd Class Wed Jones Tenderfoot Jason Talbot Silver Eagle Palm Spencer Robison and Jason Talbot received the very hard to achieve Forester Merit Badge was lit and John A well laid Cooper in full Indian regalia explained the importance of the Eagle Feather and presented one to Spencer Mr Cooper then performed traditional Indian dances around the fire ending by having the scouts and their parents join him in one dance Spencer’s cousin Nathan Davies thrilled everyone with the intricate Indian Hoop Dance using 24 hoops which were gradually entwined around his arms legs and body to form lovely designs Kirk Hardy the gave Spencer Scouters Oath and his Eagle Award Pam was honored with her Mother’s pin and a kiss from Spencer President Alt Staples presented Spencer with two Silver Dollars One for himself and one to save for when he hs a son become a Eagle Scout Great Uncle and Aunt LeGrande and Mary Davies arranged for an American Flag which had been flown over the Capital in Washington DC to be given to Spencer LeGrande K Davies made the presentation and in the glow from the fire told how having travleed all over the world he is always filled with deep love and reverence when he returns back home and first sees our beautiful flag waving in the breeze The colors were retired and prayer given by Wes Jons Just before dark Spencer had his special flag raised over the fort the Pledge of Allegiance repeated and then the flag lowered and folded as a memorable keepsake of this wonderful event in his life Many friends and relatives were in attendance to witness this Court of Honor and left feeling they had touched the past as well as the present and had looked into the future in the faces of the Scouts present accomplishment Ila Losee Carnell and associates Ronald and Jennie Perkins “Western Band” of Salt Lake City entertained with Western Music and song Table decorations and favors were miniature rabbits with a mamma rabbit on each table The decorating committee included Grace Kenny Fowles Betty Sampson Johnson and LaVon Wilcox Taylor They made stuffed and flued the little rabbits who sat up on the tables Betty Sampson Johnson served “after dinner mints” she made for the occasion Those attending were Mrs Tom (Mary
