Show Pioneer Mother dies Monday Aged 86 Years Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Hunter Harmon, Har-mon, 86, one of Millard county's early pioneers, died Monday of causes incident to age at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Emma Arthur, St. John, Tooele county. She was the mother of Mrs. Geo. (Angie) Cahoon, of Delta. Mrs. Harmon was born at the old fort at Deseret, xOct. 14, 1866, a daughter of John D. and Elizabeth Eliza-beth Hunter. When she was 2 years old the family moved to Holden, where she had lived the rest of her life. She was married to Milo A. Harmon Har-mon March 5, 1886 in the St. George Geo-rge temple. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1936. Mr. Harmon Har-mon died ten years ago. Mrs. Harmon was an active LDS worker and had served as Relief Society teacher 60 years. She had been Sunday school secretary, and had worked in the Primary and MIA in the Holden ward. She was a member of the Cedar Spring Camp, DUP. She had been well and able to do her own housework, sewing and cooking until her death. Her home was always open to visitors, and at many conferences guests enjoyed her hospitality. Surviving are Mrs. Alden Gled-hill, Gled-hill, Salt Lake City; Mrs. George Cahoon, DeitST Mrs. Vern Soren-son, Soren-son, Glenwood; Mrs. D. Vaughn Arthur, St. John; Mrs. LaMar Peterson, Pet-erson, Fillmore; Horace Harrmon, Holden; 35 grandchildren and 41 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted conduc-ted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Holden ward by Bishop Melvin Stevens. Burial will be in the Holden cemetery, cem-etery, under the direction o'f L. N. Nickle and sons, Delta. |
