Show Hinckley Rites Held Sunday For Vernon C. Moody Funeral services for Vernon C. Moody, 53, were held Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in Hinckley ward chapel conducted by Bishop Walter Ekins. Mr. Moody, who had been in poor health for the past three months, died Tuesday, June 12, in a Salt Lake hospital. He was born May 19, 1898, in Hinckley, a son of Juel and Minnie Bishop Moody. His early life was lived in Hinckley, where he attended at-tended school. He married Eva Chamberlain on Nov. 26,1916 In Nephi, and the couple lived in Hinckley until 1924. They then moved to Dividend and Mr. Moody was a barber for more than 15 years there. In 1940 they moved to California fo several years, and four years for several years, and four years Moody farmed. Surviving are his widow, at Delta, Del-ta, and two daughters, Mrs. June Alberding and Mrs. Vadna Rule, both of Long Beach, Cal.; one grandchild; his father, Juel Moody, Salt Lake City, and three brothers and two sisters, Marvin J. Moody and Gam L. Moody, and Mrs. Lucille Lu-cille Stephenson, Delta, and Bryant Moody and Mrs. Lois Wilson, Hinckley. Hin-ckley. Speakers at the services were Arthur Reeve, Bishop John Fullmer, Full-mer, Bishop William S. Bassett, and Bishop Ekins. They spoke of Mr. Moody's strength of character and honesty, and devotion to his family. He had been active in school athletics in Hinckley and for years had been a baseball player and enthusiast. In California Califor-nia he had engaged in construction work during the war years, and in Delta had continued building and developing his farm. The opening prayer was given by Gus Taylor. Music for the services ser-vices was given by the Hinckley ward choir, directed by Cluff Talbot, Tal-bot, who sang "Oh My Father" and "Sometime We'll Understand." Mrs. Marie Moody and Thurman Moody sang a duet, with Kay Moody as organist. Ladd R. Cropper Crop-per sang "Face to Face," with Mrs. Ruth Talbot as pianist. Closing prayer was given by M. Ward Moody. Burial was in the Provo cemetery ceme-tery Monday morning, directed by Fairbanks- Pyne mortuary. |
