They went on into Idaho before their return to their home. Couple Honored VIth Reception Ai levan Friday The home of Mr. and Mrs. Gil-bert L, Shepherd was the setting early Friday evening, Aug. 4 for the marriage of Miss Lorraine Hen-ri- e and La Mont L. Shepherd. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vario Henrie of Salina formerly of Delta, Mr. Shepherd is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert L. Shepherd of Levan. Bishop Le Grande Mangelsin of the 1st ward in Levan solemnized the nuptials in the presence of members of both families. The bride was given in marriage by her father, amid profusions of lovely garden flowers, the center of which was a large vase filled with salmon pink gladiola. The bride wore a white satin gown, styled with a full skirt and fitted bodice covered with net. Her finger tip tule veil was held to a crown by a tiny clip. Her only oth-er jewelry was a neck lace of rhinestones. A gift from the bride-groom. The bridal bouquet was a very special arrangement of white gladiola and satin. Miss Vaune Shepherd, sister of the bridegroom was bridesmaid . She was lovely in a costume of lilac satin with matching corsage. Mr. Farrel Winter acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception and dance was held in the amuse-ment hall in Levan. Gre.eting the guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert L. Shep-herd, Mr. and Mrs. Varlo Henrie, and daughter, Jacqueline and the newly weds and their attendants. The mothers of the bride and bridegroom were becomingly attir-- . ed wearing identical corsages. After a program at which Mr. Albert Hansen acted as master of ceremonies refreshments- were ser-ved and the remainder of the ev-ening was spent dancing . Th young couple received many useful and beautiful gifts and wis-hes for their future happiness. The bride chose a going away suit of pale blue gaberdine with white accessories. After a short trip the young couple will make their home in Nephi where Mr. Shepherd is employed. EKeccptiou I Mr. and Mrs. Wes Hardy, whose marriage took place July 27 In the Manti temple, were honored at a wedding reception in the Suther-land ward hall on Wednesday night. Receiving with the young couple were their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Steele, of Sutherland, and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hardy, of Hinckley, and the bridal party. The bride, the former Miss Carol Steele, wore a floor-lengt- h gown of heavy white satin, and a finger tip veil caught to a cap of orange blossoms. Her flowers were Chinese orchids. Attending her as matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Elma Frazier, gowned in light green and wearing pink carnations. Her bride smaids were Miss Dorothy, Corry, in blue, with pink carnation and Miss Delia Johnson, in yellow, with white flowers. Reed Stewart stood as best man for Mr. Hardy. On the program Erwin Prestwich was master of ceremonies. "Be-cause" was sung by Lola Wright and Mr. Dana Bishop, gave a read-ing. A skit was given, with parts taken by Zoe Porter, Karen Prest-wich, Vera Barney and George Chamberlain, with Mrs. Chamber-lain at the piano and Edith Ca-hn-as reader. Kay Hardy and Cherie Steele received gifts, and in charge of the gift room were Beth Prestwich, Nelda Prestwich, and Beth Hardy. Serving were Dorothy Abbott, Van da Rawlinson, Darlene May,-Ka- y Henrie, Darlene Steele and La Rue Anderson. On Thursday following the re-ception, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy left for Provo, where they are making their home. Western Gypsym To Discard Diesels, Telluride to Supply A ten-ye- contract has been en-tered into between Western Gyp-sum Co. of Sigurd and Telluride Power Co., under the terms of which the Gypsum company will purchase all power used at the plant from the power company, ac-cording to a statement by Albert H Brunner, works manager. For" the past 2V- - years the mill power has been supplied from 2 diesel electric generating units, Mr. Brunner explained, however, due to the high cost of fuel and lubricating oil and of maintenance of diesel engines, studies Qhnw Sllb stantial savings by purchasing from the power company. Further advantages, Mr. Brun-ner stated are that he and his staff will be relieved of the bur-dens attendant upon producing their own power and can devote their full energies to the gypsum operations. Also, he added, the large building which now houses the diesel generating equipment, can be used to advantage for a shop and supply warehouse. Trans-formers and other equipment have been ordered and will be installed and the changeover effected with-in the next few weeks. EBEaasaic Assg. 2 The annual Delta picnic, held in California each year, is set for August 20 this year, in La Palma Park, Anaheim, Cal. David Jacobs is chairman. All former residents lot Delta are cordially invited to attend the affair. Guests are to bring their lunches and coffee and watermelon will be served by the committee. There will be a pro-gram and sports. Mrs. Blanche Works, and mem-bers of her family, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Works, and family, were guests for dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hardy in Clear Lake on July 31. The occasion cele-brated the birthday of Mrs. Alicia Jackson, Mrs. Lola Mankin and Floyd Hardy. Will Wed Aug. 11 In Mania Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Webb of Hinckley, announce the forthcom-ing marriage of their daughter, Elva La Rue to Fred Arthur Skeem son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeem of Oasis. The ceremony will take place Friday, August 11, in the Manti temple. They will honeymoon in Yellow-stone national park and will return for a wedding reception and dance in their honor on Wednesday night, August 16, at the Hinckley open air hall. From there she and Mrs. Savage plan to go to Idaho to visit another sis-- I tor, Mrs. Melissa Wilcox. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wind, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Newell Iverson attended the fire-men's convention held in Cedar City through Saturday. The Delta group returned home Sunday, af-ter a trip to Cedar Breaks and home by way of Highway 89 to Richfield. Mrs. V. S. Barney left for Martin- -' ez, Cal., this week, where she will visit her son, Gordon Barney, and family. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Pace, from Salt Lake City, spent the week end in Delta. Their mother, Mrs. W. H. Pace, and sister, Mr Anna Cox of St. George, returned with them for a visit there. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morrison drove to Denver, Colo., this week and will bring home with them their son Willis, who has been at ROTC for 6 weeks. Mrs. Eddie Datus, from Phoenix, Ariz., is making a visit in Delta, a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Orran Ashby. Mr. and Mrs. Kenith Robins have a son and daughter and families home a visit this week. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Roland Robins, and infant daughter, arrived from s, Ore., where Mr. Robins has been studying for his doctor's de-gree Also arrived were Mr. and Mrs. Blaine (Bud) Steed, from San ta Barbara, Cal. Mrs. Steed is the former Miss Maurine Rooms. Mr and Mrs. Clark Allred, of Salt Lake City, and daughter Ro- -' mania and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Carr, from Oregon, visited m Delta Monday. With them were Mr. Carrs mother and sister. They wil lreturn home after a trip through the Utah parks. August Wedding Plans Foretold Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Eliason, of Deseret, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Genevieve, to Glen R. Larsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will-iam P. Larsen, of Spanish Fork. The ceremony wil be performed in Salt Lake LDS temple on Aug. Miss Eliason is a graduate of the BYU, where she was affiliated with Lambda Delta Sigma and Phi Chi Theta. For the past three years she has been teaching in Spanish Fork high school. |
