Show DEATH OF MRS. FERGUSON. Ijtst Sunday funeral services were held over the remains of L'llzabeth Humble Ferguson, who passed peacefully peace-fully away on Friday, March 10, at 1 p. in., after a short Illness, having contracted a severe cold, which resulted re-sulted In death. Sister Ferguson was born at Fatfleld. Durham County, Kng-land. Kng-land. September 10, 1830, was tho daughter of George and Mary Ann Humble. Through the missionary 'y Jabvre p( Jacob, Ferguson tho family, was converted to Mormonlsm and emigrated emi-grated to Utah about 1863, passing! through the many vicissitudes and trying experiences of those early days, She became the wife of the man who converted her to Mormonlsm, and was married In the endowment house In 1805. First settled at Spanish Fork, when a rail was made to settle up the Muddy In southern Ftah. Jacob Ferguson and family were among the company. On account of the hostilities hostili-ties of the Indians and their continually con-tinually stealing the animals of the settlers, many hardships and privations priva-tions confronted these people, and to udd to the many trials and hardships Hrother and Sister Ferguson were culled to part with two lovable little daughters that were born to them while there, t'nder those trying conditions, con-ditions, also a son was born to them, who Is still living. After six years of toll and heartaches, the family moved to Meadow, where two more children were born. From hero they settled at Moroni, Sanpete County, where they laid away an Infant son. From there they moved to Gunnison, where death again entered the llttlo flock, taking their only daughter, Mrs. Francis F. I-wls, leaving an Infant daughter, who became a great comfort to Sister Ferguson In her dinilnlng years. The family again returned to Meadow, where she spent the latter part of her life. During the summer of 1KK8, while boiling down rock salt, standing over the steaming kettle In the hot sun affected her and resulted in the Iohh of her sight, and from that time she bad to have assistance In getting around. In all her troubles Sister Ferguson has never complained and was of a happy and sunshiny disposition, dis-position, taking all without a murmur and remained a faithful Latter-day Saint until her death. She fully realized real-ized her time had come and remarked that she had no complaint to make, and looking back over her life had no regrets, as she fell she had done as well as could be exHcted under the conditions that surrounded her, and we believe her true. Her husband moved to Idaho, where ho met with an accident which resulted In death. Sister Sis-ter Ferguson leaves one sister, one brother, two sons, five grand children, three gn at grand children and a host of loving friends to mourn her loss. Her remains were quietly laid to rest i I in the cemetery at the ago of SO, years and six months. I t ! |
