Show Explosion Injuries Cause of Death ! The death, August 26 on Saipan lisland, of Pfc. Merrill Lewis Jameson, Jame-son, 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mer-: Mer-: rill Jameson, .until last week was ' thought to have been due to dengue fever, from which he had indicated he was recovering. Now, however, from a letter received last week-end from his commanding command-ing officer, it appears that his' death was the result of an explosion, ex-plosion, though details' still are 1 lacking. The letter, written by Captain David S. Lord, commanding officer of an army anti-aircraft batallion, is dated August 27, but bears a September 28 postmark. The text of the letter follows: It is with a deep sense of regret that I am writing you to extend i to you and the members of your family my sincere sympathy in the untimely passing of our son, Private Pri-vate First Class Merrill L. Jameson, Jame-son, who was fatally wounded by an explosion. While no words of mine can alleviate al-leviate your bereavement in this unfortunate matter, I do wish you to know that Merrill received a Christian burial with a guard of honor composed of Qiis many soldier friends, and that you have the sincere sympathy of the officers of-ficers and men of this unit. The battery has lost an excellent and respected soldier, You may communicate direct with the Quartermaster General, Washington, D.
