Show Two Deaths lip At Richmond Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Stoddard Called. H Election, and Other News. M RICHMOND, July 13 -A very quiet school election took place here Monday last, at which time Nephl K. Nelson was elected a trustee for the Richmond schools to succeed Ell Webb, whoso term expired At no time was tho election exciting, but forty-six ballots being cast in all. Twenty-live of these Mr. Nelson received, eighteen were cast for a' prominent cltl.cn of our city, whllo the remaining three wero scattering. Tho personnel of the board now stands: S. W. Hendricks, Wm. Merrill and N. K. Nelson. Just previous to this election a business meeting ot the trustees was held, at which the llnanclal report for the past year was presented, together with considerable other school business, the most Important of which was tho decision to give' 0th and 10th grade work In tho Central school next year. In the death of Mrs. Caroline Anderson And-erson Stoddatd, Richmond loses another an-other of her bright young women. Mrs. Stoddard died on Tuesday, the result of child birth. She was but a young lady, having been born In Richmond Rich-mond on tho 23rd of November, 1882, and had lived here all her life. On Dec. 23, 1004, she married Henry Stoddard, also of this place, and they havo been most devoted. None were happier than they, but death claimed her, and the separation is almost more than her husband can bear. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn their loss a father and mother, eight sisters und many relatives and friends. The funeral sorvlco was held In the Richmond meeting house Thursday, at which consoling and Inspiring words were spoken by Pres. Alma Merrill, Hendricks, Geo. Skldmoro and A. A. Thomas, whllo the choir, quartett and ladies trio rendered beautiful music. A large number took advantage of the excursion rates to Salt Lake this (Friday) morning. Besides the ward choir, a large number of the citizens of the town Joined the other organizations organi-zations of the stake In making the excursion ex-cursion a success. Some of those noticed leaving were S. W, Hendricks and wife, S. R. Telford, J. I. Shcpard, Edgar Merrill,, Mr. J. C. ChrlstolTer- H son, Mrs. 'Ana. McrOlll, Etta Merrill, H P.W. Nlclson and wife, and practically all of the Condensed Milk Co.'s cm- H ' After a long and severe illness of rheumatism and heart complication, Mrs. Mary Webb, wire of J. R. Webb, H passed away hero last Monday. Mrs. Webb had been a most dutlablo wife, loving mother and pleasant neighbor. She was the mother of nine children, HftVfl live of whom, three boys and two girls, H also her husband, survive her. The funeral services wero held In tho Rich- mond meeting house Wednesday add were very largely attended. Mrs. Fanny Stoddard was called HftVfl hastily to Salt Lake Friday morning H to tho bedside ot her daughter, Nellie, H who was taken down with a severe HBBfl caso of appendicitis and was to be H operated on there Friday morning in H the L. I). S. hospital. It was neces- H sary for Mrs. Stoddard to drive to H Cornish and take tho 3 a. m. train In H order to get to Salt Lake In time for H tho operation. H Another horse race Is scheduled for H today (Saturday) between tho Nelson H horse "Snap" and tho Tripp mare for a purse of $75. The raco will begin H at 7 p. in, sharp and considerable in- H tcrcst Is being shown In this event. H Tho Industrial Club held another H rousing meeting Tuesday night. Al- though a small attendance was pre- sent the meeting was a success and H business of great Importance to Rich- H mond was taken tip and discussed. H Mr. and Mrs. FrankRoblnsou have gone to the hot springs west of Soda H Springs, for their health and will be- J gone a month or two.
