Show THE FUNERAL OF PRES. f JELSTED Prominent Men TalK at Service in Tabernacle What Salt Lakers Said of This Man. The funeral service oicr the remains or the late Pres. FJolstcd was held in the tabernacle Wednesday at 1 o'clock. Considering the rnct that the deceased had devoted his entire lire to the cause and was known as a man or highest honor and slnccrcst, Integrity, and ono or the prominent Scandinavians Scandinavi-ans or this valley, tho funeral service was but poorly attended. McMurrln ant) Isaac Smith spoke on the life of tho deceased and only the kindliest and most beautiful things wero said. Each or the speakers had known him well personally and attributed to him life hlghcstand best virtues. One knew him as the best friend anil brother; another knew him as a worker In the Scandinavian mission; another knew him as a noble man, generous, loving' kind, valiant In the faith; and another, anoth-er, knew hlm as all of these and as one readv and willing, to go meet his Judgment. Some of the addresies wero delivered In the Danish language. All the speakers bore their testimony to the sterling worth or the deceased. The departure or such men, it was pointed out, is a loss to the family, to the community In which they have lived, to tho county, and to tho church of which they are members. And yet, It is added, we do not mourn, as If there was no hope. The singing was very Impressive, and was rurnlshed by tlie Chrlstoph-crson-Ashworth quartet. Pror. Evan Stephens presided at the organ. Tho platrorm was very handsomely decorated by Scandinavian sisters and friends, who had also coer'ed the casket cas-ket with some beautiful floral designs. Another lloral offering was the tribute of lovo from tho members of the First Council of Seventies, of which the deceased de-ceased was an active member since 18&1. Many friends followed the remains re-mains tho to Oregon Short Line depot, anil Elders Golden Kimball and Jos, McMurrln accompanied tho body to Logan. The services In the assembly hall were under the auspices of tho presidency presi-dency ot the Scandinavian meetings of Salt Lako stake, and other Scandinavian Scandi-navian friends of tiio departed leader. |
