Show Dedication-Conference. On Friday last, November 28th, the Presidency of this Stake and Elder B. W. Hurst met with the people of Smithfield in their new frame school house which has recently been completed, for the purpose of dedicating that building. The structure mentioned is in dimensions ??? feet and 13 feet from floor to ceiling. It is divided into two rooms by a hall or entrance way; is fitted with home made furniture and provided with a belfry and bell. The dedicatory prayer was offered by President ? and appropriate remarks were made by all three of the presiding authority. After meeting, the party proceeded to Franklin, where a conference was held on Saturday and Sunday, and a meeting of the Mutual Improvement Association took place on Saturday evening. A number of speakers occupied the time of these meetings, and much good instruction was imparted. The elders of Franklin were organized into a quorum, and counselors were appointed to Bishop Nathan Porter of Worm Creek ward. The party returned to Richmond and held a meeting at that place on Sunday evening and arrived home on Monday morning. |
