Erma was born March 23, 1916, in Clawson, a daughter of Joseph W. and Julia Jorgensen and raised on their farm. Kirtley was born Oct. 30, 1903, in Colonia Diaz, Old Mexico, to Worth and Florence Tucker. He grew up on a farm in Emery County, moved to Salt Lake City and worked as a carpenter, then moved back to Emery County during the depression. Later, he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a carpenter and building inspector in 1942. The couple then moved to their present address in Kaysville. They are both active members of the LDS Church.
