Boyd W. Munns, president of the general farm organization announced that the public will be welcome to attend any of the convention activities to be held at the Burley Inn. The inadequate provisions of recent Farm Bills, international politics and the strength of the U.S. dollar abroad have provided the vehicle for five of the worst economic years in American history, Munns pointed out. State Street, Suite 218, Salt Lake Ciyt, UT 84115, or call (801) te agri-cltu- re Farmers Union members and delegates will gather to hear state and national leaders address the situation facing agriculture and the adopt a policay statement with positive recommendations regarding the 1985 Farm Bill, the farm economy and numerous other state and national issues. Farmers Union is concerned about the future of family agriculture and if the farm economy will improve enough to provide the incentive for a new generation of food producers to take up the challenge of producing food and fiber for this nation and the world, the farm leader said. Unfortunately, our industry has failed to share in the recent economic comeback of which President Reagan is so proud. The overall parity level of US farm commodities has dropped from 67 percent when Mr. Reagan took office, to last months 55 percent according to USDA. The farm group will hear from a slate of speakers at this year's meeting. On Thursday, Jan. 31, Idaho Governor John Evans and Natinal Farmers Union President Cy Carpenter will be featured speakers. On Friday, Feb. 1, recently elected Congressman Richard Stallings will discuss the Farm Bill debate and its implications on American family agriculture. The state of the farm economy is the number one problem facing our nation today especially when you consider its importance in international trade, providing jobs and stimulating the overall exonomy. Our delegates have a difficult assignment when you consider the scope of the issues facing them this year, Munns concluded. 3 America' JOB- S- Qr 3 GENERAL is Anthony'sestaurant now accepting applications Tues-Frl- noon-- 2 p.m.Week-end- ton.
