Show Cake Decorating Class Planned in Syracuse r ffT1 P-- 3 SYRACUSE Area teens are finding fun and profit in summer activity of cake decorating. laktid Rvlw, July 8, Sidewalk Sale. Mrs. Dorothy Pehrson, 1371 Lori Circle, has agreed to take yet another class during the summer. Seven girls have signed up for instructions. Mrs. Pehrson says that after six lessons she will guarantee that they will be able to turn out a beautiful cake. In September of 1978, Mrs. Pehrson enrolled in a seminar to learn the Wilton method, of teaching. She worked for three years at ZCMI as a cake decorating instructor and for two years with the community school. She tries to hold her class registration to ten students. She said that she can give the personal attention to her students. Beginning in September and running until December, she will hold two sets of classes, beginning and advanced on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In addition to classes, she takes orders for wedding cakes and cakes for any other, special occasion. Joyce Rhoades, who has had only two lessons, has already received orders for several cakes. In the beginning class the students learn the fundamentals of icings, preparing the cake and icing bag and the essentials of decorating and color techniques. Lesson 2 is the use of the start and drop flower tube. Lesson 3 and 4 are decorating with flowers and other specialized techniques. Lesson 5 deals with some special touches, and lesson 6 is the grand finale. The advanced course is renewing the .14 f 50 Off . The public will be able to voice its opinion on a change in the zoning ordinance to allow dog kennels in residential areas at a public hearing Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. s change would also allow veterinary hospitals and kennels in agricultural zones under the conditional use ordinance.
