Tho mayor announced that Mr. L. W. Jonss had duly qualified as city councilor, and his bond was ordered filed with tho recorder. Petition of W. n. Grlmslmw and others, residents of tho north cast 'corner of tbo city, In what is . known as tho Efuntar cntrj, asking for improvement In tho streets, and bet-Tcr bet-Tcr facilities for crosalnjr the creek In that locality. Petition referred, to commlttco on petitions. Tho mayor announced that Mr. Ii. W. Jones would tako tho placo of Mr. S T. Lolph on all standing committees. Mr. Rd Will Hams assistant superintendent of construction con-struction of pljielllno, reported that he had tried runnlnpr thohwutcr in tho Cosslett ditch with a view tO'supplyltig tho city water system, but that feurinff duinaco to the South Field ditch he had turned It off. Suggested that tho mayor and council vUit tho spot and cjuunlno tho character of tliesoll before much labor way expended thereon. It was decided by tho council to act upon the BUi;t,'e3tion, visit said locality and decided upon where tho head of the water sys'em is to be. The council enjoined It upon tho superintendents to hco that faithful honest work is done , by tho men who work under them on tho city excavations, and to employ such men as would do that sortof work. Mr. Joseph Fife offered to deed tho city a piece of ground 1x20 rods near his residence for street purposes if the council would build a good substantial fenco on tho lino of said, street. Thoqucstian of remitting special water taxes of persons who aro unable to pay thum was referred to tho judiciary commlttco. The money paid by tho Relief Society for the license- for the dunce they had on the 17th lust, was refunded. Bills aggregating $178.85 aero allowed. Ordinances for water districts No. 1, 2, II 7 and I) were roported aud referred to the surveyor for comparison with tho plats of the water system. Tho question of supplying water from tho water system to citizens living on tho south sido of First South street, and North of First North street discussed discus-sed and placed In tho hands of the Judiciary edmmlttee to report on atan early date.
