Show Gratitude Expressed For Aid Rendered In Hornbuckle Death Mrs. Julia Leigh and Mrs. Ruth Bent ley, with whom James Luther Lu-ther (Jack) Hornbuckle had been associated fur many years, express ex-press their appreciation tu the many friends who assisted at the time of his recent death. Mr. Hornbuckle. a native of Texas and a resident of Cedar City for about 30 years, died from injuries suffered in an accident ac-cident at the Leigh farm north of Cedar City. He was plowing with a tractor and at the close of the day had stopped to remove the plow, leaving the tractor engine en-gine running. In some way the machine started up dragging him under the wheel. He died the next day from the Injuries re-ci re-ci ived. He was born in Terrant County, Texas on July 29, 18!7, and until un-til the early twenties lived in Texas Tex-as and California. A meat cutter by trade, he had worked in a number of markets in Cedar City, and from 1942 to April 1953 tie worked with Mrs. Leigh and Mrs. Bentley In the Peoples Market. Since the store was leased at that time he had worked on the Leigh farm. When he first came to Cedar City he worked as a box maker mak-er and later was active in the gypsum mining development In Cedar Canyon. His wife. Maude Hornbuckle, died in 1941. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed in the Third Ward chapel by Bishop Austin Hey wood, and burial bur-ial was in the Cedar cemetery. |
