EDGAR BENSON Open House to Honor Edgar Bensons Saturday In Honor oi Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Benson, lifetime residents of Tarowan and prominent in community activities ac-tivities for many years, will celebrate cele-brate their Golden Wedding anniversary an-niversary on Saturday, Nov. 5. They were married on Nov. 3, 1910 in the St. George LDS Temple, Tem-ple, but the observance of the event will be Saturday. At that time they will be honored hon-ored at an open house, to be held in the Relief Society rooms of the First-Second Ward chapel at 6 p. m. At this time they invite in-vite all their friends and relatives rela-tives to call on them. There will be program numbers and refreshments. refresh-ments. Mr. Benson's parents were Nathan Na-than Benson, Jr. and Alta Carson, and Mrs. Benson's parents were Joseph P. Dalton and Sarah Elizabeth Eliz-abeth Thornton, and they have been lifetime residents of Paro- Iwan. They are parents of eight children, chil-dren, six of whom are living Their oldest boy died when he was 14 and the oldest daughter I died when fifteen years of age. Mr. Benson has engaged in the livestock and farming busi-j ness all of his life running both sheep and cattle, and is still j looking after his interests. He served as Parowan City councilman coun-cilman for almost 13 years. He I has also served as president of the Parowan Reservoir Co. and the Parowan Gun and Rod Club, and was an ardent sportsman all of his life. An active member of the LDS Church, he is at present pres-ent group leader of the High Priest quorum members of his ward. . Mrs. Benson has given service in all of the auxiliary organizations organiza-tions of the church, and spent nine years as MIA worker. She has also been active in the American Legion Auxiliary. All of their children are expected ex-pected to be here for the week end observance. They are: Mrs. Ora Davis, Mrs. Iva Shook, Mrs. Kathleen Rose, Mrs. Utahna Golden, Gol-den, Los Angeles; Mrs. Bonnie Lavottl, Sacramento, Calif., and Joseph Benson, Parowan. They also have 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. j |
