Show Calvin C. Connell, 101, active Church Worker I dies in Parowan; honored at Services 'I .'- . I I " ' 'i f , -' ' 4 Mi- 1 $xw&rfJ4 ft MMHM natural causes on Wednesday Wed-nesday October 12, 1977. Mr. Connell was born May 12, 1876 in Parowan to James and Sarah E. Pendleton Connell. On May 19, 1909 he married his sweetheart Sarah Anna Durham in the Salt Lake Temple. Sarah preceded him in death on January 15, 1967. Mr. Connell was an active member of the LDS Church serving as a High Priest. He served a mission in Missouri from December 1906 to May 1909. Calvin loved horses and sheep and spent the major part of his life on the range where he earned his living as camptender for James C. Robinson until he retired at age 77. Mr. Connell was a frugal man, he loved children and his fellow man. He loved music and had an alert mind all his hundred and one plus years that he lived in Parowan. Survivors include one brother: Joseph W. Connell of Ogden, and one sister: Jean C. Jones of Parowan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday October 15, in the Parowan LDS First and Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Glen Halterman conducting. Prelude and postlude music was rendered ren-dered by Ola O. Robinson. Family prayer was offered by D Robinson and the invocation by Leon D. Robinson. Jean H. Hen-drickson Hen-drickson gave the eulogy followed by Alma Evans and Bishop Glen Halterman as speakers. Verl Taylor sang "Home on the Range" and a double mixed quartet sang "That Beautiful Land" and "Lead Me Gently Home." Vyonne Chamberlain accompanied the musical numbers. The benediction was offered by James C. Robinson and flowers were taken care of by the Relief Society Sisters. Pallbearers included: Ruben D. Jones, D. Frank Jones, D. Robinson, Kenyon D. Robinson, Sherwin C. Benson and Donald D. Jones. Frank Jones offered the dedicatory prayer at the Parowan City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Boyer Southern Utah Mortuary. I CALVIN C.
