Show Reese Perkins Maughn REESE PERKINS MAUGHAN, 86, the first head of the department of education at the former Branch Agricultural College, died Oct. 24, 1982, in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born Feb. 13, 1896, in Wellsville, Utah, the son of Thomas Morgan Maughan and Emily Perkins. He received . his early education in the schools of northern Utah. He married Edna Maria Larsen, May 26, 1920, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She also taught in public schools in Iron County. For many of his early years, he was a school teacher and principal in schools of northern Utah, including Logan. High School. He received his bachelor's degree at Utah State, his master's in education at Stanford University and his doctorate of education from the University of Cincinnati. He also attended at-tended the University : Utah and the University of Chicago. Survivors include his widow: two daughters, Ellen Silver, Sandy, Utah, row serving an LDS mission in the Switzerland Temple, and Shirley Gardner, Carrollton, Georgia; three grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Thomas Morgan Maughan, Portland, Oregon; Weston Perkins Maughan, Preston, Idaho; and Reed Perkins Maughan, Twin Falls, Idaho. |
