Show green river man injured in highway accident harold anderson proprietor of the standard oil service station in green river was seriously injured sunday night at 10 30 when the pickup truck which he was driving plunged into an embankment at the railroad cros sing several hundred yards east of the sunnyside Sunny side junction on highway 50 and 6 mr anderson was driving irately fifty miles an hour west on highway 50 and 6 and when his truck crossed the railroad crossing the steering mechanism locked and the track darted across the highway and plunged head on into the em ban kment it was reported mr an derson was thrown into the wind shield and received multiple cuts a cross the forehead over the face and under the throat he remained in the truck bleeding badly for over twenty minutes before help came he was taken to the hospital in price the accident was reported to the journal by mr 0 K anderson harold s father mr 0 K anderson said that harold was on his way to attend the dealer s convention and showing of the new 1956 models of in salt lake city when the accident occurred he ile said that harold told him that when the truck hit the level spot at the crossing the front end went down and seemed to lock and that he tried his best to turn the steering wheel when the truck bore to the left but that it would not budge he said that it happened so fast that there was just nothing he could do harold told his father that he had suffered more from the cold than anything when mrs anderson arrived at the hos pital several hours later they were still packing hot water bottles around him to warm him up mr 0 K anderson stated that harold would be in the hospital for about eight days other injuries were severe bruises about the ankles and legs and upper parts of the body also it was reported that two ribs were broken |
