Show I EARLY FLOWERS. The Chronicle of San Francisco has a full front illustration with the legend: "California High School Boys Lead the United States with Records in Athletics." We suspect that is true, for ever since the days of Molly McCarty and Katie Pease, California three-year-olds have been the full matches of four-year-olds of eastern states. But after four years old California colts cease to win any more races. There was a learned scientist once in California who explained that because be-cause of the peculiar electrical conditions that prevail in the atmosphere of the Golden State, her animal life will always be in youth precocious and strong, but that its decay will be alike rapid, and that great men will be rare among California's Califor-nia's sons. What does the Chronicle think of that conclusion? |
