Show Death Of Bishop Secrist. GOOD MAN SUMMONED. Died in This City Monday Evening at the Home of His Daughter, Mrs. F. D. Welling. Bishop Jacob 31. Rocrist, a most highly high-ly respected resident of Farmlngton, Davis County, Utah, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. D. Welling of this city, Monday evening from the effects of Injuries received iu the recent storm that swept over Farmlngton. He, to all ap pcaranccs, had entirely recovered and feeling interested in bis daughter, who has been very low for several weeks, came here to visit her. Monday nfter-noon nfter-noon ho complaiurd of a pain over his heart which was followed by a vomiting spell that seemed to give relief. Later he reclined on a cot and soon began coughing. His son T. E. Secrist camo to his aid and iu a few minutes Bp. Secrist passed away In tho arms of his sou. In the next room his daughter was lying at the point of death and thu (information was kept from her for fear of a collapse Tho body was removed at once to the home of bis son, T. E. Secrist, and word sent to relatives, and friends of his sudden sud-den demise. His features in death presented pre-sented a very poaceful expression. In the recent windstorm Mr. Secrist was plonloned down oy a door from a falling barn, his nose was broken and he was rendered unconscious for eight-ecnihours, eight-ecnihours, It is the opinion of the relatives rela-tives that when the door fell upon hliu he came In contact with a rock and received re-ceived serious injury about tho breast and heart. Ills sudden recovery was good news to all and it was thought that he had entirely rcgalucd-hls usual health and strength. Tho sudden departure was a 'severe blow to his relatives amlfrlcnds. Owing to the condition of his daughter it is thought host to keep the Information of bis death from her. Samuel Taylor of tho Jos. E. Taylor undertaking establishment of Salt Lake city, camo np nud embalmed the body for shipment. Mr. Secrist has filled tho position of bishop of tho Farmlngton ward for over twenty-flvo years and was loved by all who knew him. He was tho father of a host of children who nro all highly respected. re-spected. Among tho relatives and friends who came to this city to accompany tho remains re-mains to his homo In Farmlngton for burial, were: Mra J. M. Hccrlst aud daughter Kthel, Second Counsellor J. D. Wood, Charles Secrist, llyrnm Secrist of Loguu, brother of the deceased, Jacob Parker of Hooper tiephow of tho deceased, deceas-ed, A masa L Clark, cashier of tho Davis county Bank, Ezra F. Richards, Geo. Bourne, brother of Mrs. Secrist. A funeral procession formed at thu homo of T, E. Secrist early Wednesday morning and accompanied thu remains to tho O. S. L. depot whero they wcro shipped to Farmlngton, Mr. aud Mrs. T. E. SccrUt and family and Willie Potter, son of .Mrs, Percllla Secrist, also wout to Farmlngton with tho remains. Thu funeral services were held at Farmlngton yesterday afternoon, a u account ac-count of which will bo published in next week's lisuo A host of relatives and friends of tho deceased from this city wont to Farmlngton to attend the services. |
