Show I LIBRARY AND GYMNASIUM MASS MEETING, At the Mass Meeting held In the Garland hnll Saturday last, Oct. the 26th, for the purposo of discussing the proposition as to whether or not it bo the pleasure- of the people- to establish at this place a Public. Library Li-brary and Gymnasium, a large and enthusiastic crowd was In attendance The advisability of establishing an in stltutlon of this kind, was discussed afe great length by those In attendance, attend-ance, ns was also the law and modes of procedure connected therewith. Mrs. Lucy A. Clark, Messrs. Moslah Evans, John T. Lnnt. and J. C. Whee-lon, Whee-lon, having given tho matter considerable con-siderable study, advanced many valuable valu-able theories and suggestions as to their views In the premises, nnd as to Just how to proceed with the move. All in attendance expressed themselves as anxious to have the institution established, and voted v that tho matter be placed beforo tho 9 good citizens of this placo at the coming November election, and that In board of directors for tho library and gymnalslum be placed upon the regular election ticket to be voted upon In connection with the two mill tax to bo nsscscd tho taxpayers to establish and maintain tho Institution. Institu-tion. The following porsons wero named as nominees for the six. four and two year terms respectively. Lucy A. Clark, Mrs. J. C. Wheelon, six year term; Moslah Evans, Mrs. Mosluh Evans, four year term; Bur-dctte Bur-dctte Smith, R. L. Bush, Two year term. I Mr. John T. Lant, President of the Town Board and Chairman of the meeting was Instructed to place the order for necessary printing In connection con-nection with a ballot of this kind: Tho matter of appointing a dole-gato dole-gato to represent the local league at the State league was also brought before be-fore the meeting and discussed nt some length. It was decided that in tho event thnt tho move was bub-h bub-h tained In the coming election and tho ' nominees elected ns named above, that ono from their number be sent to State league to represent the local lo-cal organization. It Is sincerely to bo hoped that tho good people of this community will realize the Importance Im-portance nnd the good to be gained by the establishment of an organization organiza-tion of this kind and rlso to the occasion oc-casion by voting for the 2 mill tax nnd the directors named above. |
