Show mopic mvs By Vicki Syrett . 679-8687 vickidianehotmail.com We want to extend our condolences con-dolences to the Sam Pollock family on the passing, of their wife, mother and sister, LaRae Pollock. She was a cheerful and kind person and always had a smile for you. She will be missed by many. She was a mother to nine and a grandmother grandmoth-er to 10 and they all were here in Tropic, with their families, to show their love and respect for LaRae. Chase Pollock has received his LDS mission call to Rapid City, S.D. Chase is the son of Gordon and Sharon Pollock. The tiny little baby of Ron and Kristine Nez was blessed in ' the Tropic LDS Ward. They named him Ronald Kee Nez, Jr. The proud grandparents are Jerry and Carol Pollock of Tropic. David and Candace Shakespear, Ogden, and their son Dylan; Brian and Shelly Clement, and John Shakespear, Cerdar City; along with Stephanie Dalton, Circleville; spent a day with Franz, Margaret, and Jim Shakespear of Tropic. They all went on a picnic into the mountains, under the tall pines, for their celebration celebra-tion in laboring for Labor Day! Malen and Marian Mecham enjoyed having Marian's son, Dean and his wife, Robyn Shakespear, of Herriman spend the weekend with them. The last week in August, Gail and Bonnie Miles met their old next-door neighbors, Doug and Sue Benson, who are their very dear friends from Midvale. They all stayed at the beautiful Baker House Bed and Breakfast in Cedar City and attended two Shakespearean Festival Productions, "Hay Fever" and "Man of La Mancha." They then went to the Tuachan Theater in St. George to see the production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" and a session at the St. ; George LDS Temple. On their way home they stopped at the Mountain Meadow Massacre marker to show the Bensons and to share some of our Southern Utah History with them. On Labor Day Weekend, they had three of their grandchildren from Cedar City staying with them while their parents were on a little vacation. Bonnie Miles will be part of the Utah Quilt Guild Annual Meeting on Sept. 18-22 at the Dixie Center in St. George. She will also be completing her three-year term as secretary of the State organization. During this four-day conference, Bonnie will be participating as a teacher on two of the days. The conference hosts over 400 quitters. quit-ters. . One hundred and nine descendents of Leslie and Flora Johnson LeFevre recently held their yearly reunion in Tropic at the Bryce Pioneer Village owned by their son Reed LeFevre. The children of Leslie and Flora LeFevre are Ellis LeFevre, Lamar LeFevre, John Lyle LeFevre, Leslie Von LeFevre Willis, (known to most of us as Bonnie); Dale, Velma Lambert, Reed LeFevre and Russell LeFevre. The children and grandchildren of all the ' above family members were present. Dale and Olene LeFevre of Cedar City were in charge of this year's activities. Family members told childhood memories of their parents, some fun skits were performed, newly composed songs were sung, and poems were recited. A movie was shown of Ellis LeFevre, a deceased brothec and it showed him performing at a past reunion. Blake Robinson of Escalante has been staying with Mate and Ruth Baugh this past few weeks. Carl and Mary Miller Boyd say they are here to stay. No more traveling or moving for them. They sold their house in Cedar City and Slate Stewart, Cody Brinkerhoff, and Paul Shakespear all helped them move their belongings back to Tropic. Carl Thomas, their grandson, is here to stay for a time. Lester and Vertis Clarke had Richard and Judy Clarke and son Justin stay with them for a few days. They are from Riverton. A granddaughter, Camille Kofford and her husband hus-band Greg and their four children, chil-dren, Riverton, were also here to visit with the Clarkes. A grandson, grand-son, Troy Clarke and his wife Lisa from Provo joined with the others in visiting their grandparents. grandpar-ents. Marie Richardson of Iraan, Tex., a friend of Keela Mangum, is here to visit for three weeks. Marie is 70 years young and loves riding the horses. She rides them often while visiting (See TROPIC on page 7A) Tropic. News From Page4A here and this time she also helped with the cows. Shawn Mortensen and sons Cache and Carter went to Prescott, Ariz., to see their horses hors-es run. Their horse took second place. The boys had a very good time. Tawn Mangum is running back and forth between Grand Canyon and Tropic, keeping very busy. Larvin and Eva Pollock were delighted to have Blake and Marion Allen and their five children, chil-dren, Johannah, Jeff, Nathan, . Jessica, and Kaylie, from Orem, ,' here for a visit. Brent and Pauline Allen of Richfield, and their five children, Traci, - Tambrea, Jimmy, Joey, and Cecy, were also here visiting - with Larvin and Eva. Glenna Pollock had a very - wonderful 80th birthday party. ' Here for the celebration were: Jolene Jensen, Grant and ; Darlene LeFevre, Michael and ; Lorinda LeFevre and their kids, - William, Wade, Megan, Roland ' and Maria; Garn and Peggy - Pollock and their son Jed, Jeff ' and Jenny Pollock, with their ' kids Abby, Ryan, and Holden; Brian, Jenna and Dawson Cloward, Royce and Debbie Hatch and son Cody, Marvin and Hazel Hatch, Shawn and Candice Wakefield with Jessica, Adrienne, Allyson, Tyrell, Riley, Lay-lee, Alexie; Dee Pollock, Alex and Melissa Carol and their four kids. Glenna's brother Weldon Le Fevre and his daughter daugh-ter Barbara also attended. Everyone had a very good time at the party including Glenna. |
