Show 1 By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 A.C. and Rita Hammer saw something they thought was interesting on Monday. Upon investigating it proved to be a yellow balloon moving just above the ground near their home in the north part of town. It settled on the ground between their home and the home of Eric and Tammy Jessen. Could it be one of the many released into the air during the celebration held at the time of Elizabeth Smart's return to he home? We watched many balloons, both blue and yellow, being cut loose to drift. Or perhaps it came from one of the military troop's touching send-offs. I wish we knew, because it isn't a common thing to just go out and find a yellow balloon in your yard. Could the north wind we have been experiencing lately have carried it for a long distance or did its flight originate at some airport or troop deployment area. Anyway, it seemed a timely time-ly bit of news. On Saturday, an Appreciation dinner and social was held for Al Stone, Cannonville's former mayor and his wife, Sandy. A good part of the town attended and after a delicious dinner of I Dutch oven chicken, mutton and potatoes, with salad and all the -good things they served, people -had a chance to get up and express their thanks for the things he and his board did to ' improve our little community. He was presented with a book, Prelude to Glory, Vol. 1 and a card signed by all who were there. We all appreciate them and wish them well. Cannonville LDS Ward Conference was held on Sunday.
