Show Conservation Officers Hold Administrative Checkpoint PANGUITCH LAKE Conservation Officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conducted con-ducted an administrative checkpoint on state route 143 south of Panguitch Pan-guitch Lake near Blue Springs over the Memorial Day weekend holiday. This checkpoint was primarily held to check compliance with fishing regulations in the Panguitch Lake area. To conduct an administrative checkpoint, officers must submit a checkpoint plan to a magistrate for approval. The plans are made to insure in-sure the safety of the motoring public pub-lic and the officers. The checkpoint was held from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and involved in-volved seven conservation officers from throughout southern Utah. Officers stopped a total of 170 vehicles and contacted about 500 people. Most fisherman reported good success at Panguitch Lake. Officers also issued citations for 19 violations. Eleven of the violations viola-tions were for possessing over-limits over-limits of fish including one case where three people possessed a total of 54 fish. Officers seized a total of 99 fish illegally held in possession. Other violations detected were unlawful un-lawful transportation of fish, littering litter-ing and four motor vehicle violations. viola-tions.
