Show Summer Season Begins At Bryce Canyon National Park Summer activities and services are fully underway at Bryce Canyon National Park. Warmer days, longer daylight hours and wildflowers are now greeting visitors to Bryce Canyon. The following information highlights high-lights the schedule of operations for summer 1999. The Bryce Canyon Visitor Center Cen-ter is open daily from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Restrooms, exhibits, publications pub-lications and a slide program are available, including information on hiking, camping, accommodations and other nearby attractions. Backcountry permits are issued from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and beginning begin-ning on Friday, June 11, a $5.00 fee will be charged for each back-country back-country permit issued. Ranger-conducted Ranger-conducted walks and talks, including includ-ing evening programs are now being be-ing offered. Check at the Visitor Center and other visitor facilities throughout the park for scheduled time and place of the various programs pro-grams offered. These programs are a great way to learn more about the park and its resources. Tent and trailer camping is available in North Campground and Sunset Campground on a first-come, first-come, first-served basis. Campground Camp-ground fees are $10.00 per night per site. A day-use picnic area is located lo-cated adjacent to North Campground. Camp-ground. The historic Bryce Canyon Lodge is open for the season, and will remain open until November 1. The Lodge offers a variety of accommodations, a dining room with extended breakfast and lunch hours, a gift shop, post office and easy access to the Rim Trail. The General Store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is located near Sunrise Point parking area. Groceries, quick meals, camping supplies and shower and laundry facilities are available at this location. loca-tion. Two-hour and half-day guided trail rides, led by concession wranglers, wran-glers, afford visitors a unique way to explore Bryce Canyon. For further fur-ther information and ride availability, availabil-ity, inquire at the Bryce Canyon Lodge. Road construction is currently in progress near the entrance sta tions of Bryce Canyon. When completed, this fee demonstration dem-onstration project will improve the alignment of the road providing safer access for park visitors into Bryce Canyon National Park. Until mid-summer, when the project is scheduled for completion, expect short delays. We invite you to experience the many overlooks or hiking trails leading down through pillars of rocks,, known as "hoodoos". To best experience Bryce Canyon National Na-tional Park during the busy summer season, we recommend the earlier morning and late afternoon and early evening hours to hike and tour the park. Be sure to obtain a copy of the "Hoodoo" newspaper at the Visitor Center or Lodge, and spend some time reviewing the information on "Safety at Bryce". We want your visit to Bryce Canyon National Park to be safe and enjoyable this summer season. |
