Show Quality Growth Surveys Due In Mail Friday Time is running out for Garfield County residents to complete their Quality Growth Commission survey sur-vey due in the mail by Friday The Utah State Legislature created cre-ated a statewide Quality Growth Commission in this year to research re-search and make recommendations to Governor Mike Leavitt regarding growth-related issues facing local communities. Garfield County communities were selected to provide pro-vide information on these issues from a rural perspective. Garfield County Commission Chair Louise Liston says that because most of the other input will come from the more urban areas of the state, it is important for a rural point of view to be heard clearly and loudly in Salt Lake City. The survey, which takes less than 30 minutes to complete, will provide local community leaders with important information from which to make local and county planning decisions as well as help guide statewide planning efforts. The survey assesses sources of family income in the county, opinions about where growth should be allowed to occur, opinions about meeting State mandated Affordable Housing Plans in county communities, transportation transpor-tation and infrastructure, and protection pro-tection and preservation of scenic areas, farmlands, other sensitive areas, and historical uses of homes, lands, etc. One important question the survey asks is whether the Count) should take whatever necessary steps (financial and legal) to ensure that all existing roads remain open for public access. A stamped, addressed envelope is provided with the survey which should be sent to Five County Association of Governments, P.O. Box 630. Escalante, UT 84726. |
