Show Local Stores Share The Gift Of Knowledge Three Garfield County supermarkets super-markets will be teamed up with Assocaiated Food Stores and Governor Gov-ernor Mike Leavitt in September's "Share The Gift Of Knowledge" program by providing book and magazine collection sites. The Welcome Market in Panguitch, Pan-guitch, Doug's Place in Tropic and Griffin's Mercantile in Escalante will participate in the statewide book and magazine drive where donated reading materials are given to various community resource centers. With September being National Literacy month, the "Share The Gift Of Knowledge" project and the governor's office will distribute the reading materials through a joint effort with the Utah PTA, the Adult Education Department, Utah Department De-partment of Corrections, Adult Literacy Lit-eracy Programs and Senior Centers. Community members are encouraged en-couraged to donate new and used books and magazines at any of their local Associated Food Stores. Additional participants in the book and magazine drive are the Simmons Radio Group, Kimberly-Clark, Kimberly-Clark, Shasta, National Home Advantage, Ad-vantage, and several state agencies, including the Utah State Office of Education, The Adult Family Literacy Liter-acy Group, as well as the Coalition for Utah Families. Those interested in helping with the project are encourged to ask in their local store for more information. |
