Show RovalAlvev TROPIC Beloved husband, father, step-father, and grandpa, Royal Alvey, 88, of Tropic, returned to his Heavenly Father April 15, 2000, in Panguitch. He was born Apr. 30, 1911, in Escalante, to George and Ann Spencer AlvejU He was raised and educated in Escalante. He married Nina Pollock and was sealed in the St. George LDS Temple on May 27, 1937. She preceded him in death July 22, 1953. He married Rella Ott Shakespear, Sept. 15, 1956. He was employed at Ruby's Inn in his early life and then worked in the timber industry, retiring after 35 years. He then worked for the city of Tropic for 17 years. He retired at the age of 83. All his life he worked hard and took pride in all that he did. He wanted things done the right way. He was a kind, gentle and patient man. He did not complain about the adversity that life dealt him. He was a man of integrity. He was honest and fair in his dealings with his fellow men. He had a keen sense of humor. He loved his family and everything he did was done for them. He was an Elder in the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife Rella of Tropic; children: Gayla Jean (Steve) Hales, Redding, Calif.; Kenneth Royal (Ida) Alvey, Las Vegas, Nev.; Afton (Frank) Branch, Bountiful; Kim Alvey, Richfield; Kerry (JoNeil) Alvey; Florence Gerald Eusfene Allen t KINGSTON Gerald Eugene Allen, 79, passed away, Apr. 12, 2000, at his home after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease. At his death, Marva Gleave Allen, his loving wife, of 57 years and all of his children were by his side. Gerald was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Kingston, to Rufus Albern and Helena Christensen Allen. Gerald spent a lifetime in agriculture as a farmer and stockman. As a youth he drove taxies in Salt Lake City. He worked as a roustabout for MGM in Kanab. He was a carpenter at Geneva. He later spent 16 years employed at the Deer Trail Mine. During this period of time he was also farming at Spring Creek near Angle. Still his passion was his wife and family. Gerald was a quiet man who had a special insight for his children. In his easy going way, he led his family, even until his death. He was an Elder in the LDS Church. Gerald is survived by his wife, Marva Allen, Kingston; six children: chil-dren: Linda Orton, Kanab; Gary and Margaret Allen, Junction; Helayna and Robert Goulding, Hurricane; Greg and Debra Allen, Kingston; Marvalee Whittaker, Hurricane; Cody and Beth Allen, Kingston; 33 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters: Vola Harris, Hazel Mason Boyd MT STERLING, KENT. Hazel Mason Boyd, 87, of Mt. Sterling, Kent., died Apr. 11. She was born Nov. 26, 1912 in Mongomery County, the daughter of the late James Shirley and Nelle Roe Mason. She was a genealogist and historian, histo-rian, as well as a homemaker and member of the First United Me-hodist Me-hodist Church. She was also a Kentucky Colonel, member of the Kentucky Historical Society and Montgomery County Historical Society. Survivors include two sons: James F. (Jessie) Boyd of Mt. Sterling Ster-ling and Carl B. (Mary-Miller) Boyd of Tropic; one sister, Ruth M. Duncan of Bagdad, Kent.; six grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Boyd, Sr. Services were held on Friday, Apr. 14 in Mt. Sterling. Burial was in the machpelah Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina; brothers: Mark, Mazel and Victor; sisters: Thelma Syrett, Edna Peterson and Clema Lund; grandson Tracey. His family loved him dearly and will miss him. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Tropic Cemetery. Funeral directors: Neal S. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sat-urday, April 15, 2000, in the Cir-cleville Cir-cleville 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Widtsoe Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W.
