Show George Fairchild Wilson TROPIC George Fairchild Wilson, 89, of Tropic, Utah, died August 27, 1996 in the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch, Utah. He was born on June 26, 1907 in Colonial Moreles, Mex. to David Johnson and Miriam Adelia Cox Wilson. George married Dora Louisa Hall, Feb. 1939, later divorced. He married Nell Sylvester Stout, Dec. 23, 1948 in the St. George LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church where he was a High Priest, home teacher and served with his wife in a Shreveport Baton Rouge Mission 1975-76. George was a heavy equipment operator for the Utah Department of Transportation. He also operated a service station in Glen Canyon City for four years until 1972 when he moved to Tropic. He is survived by his wife, Nell, Tropic; one son and two daughters, David LaRell Wilson, Sandy, UT; Zoe McKendrick, Magna, UT and JoAnn Lither; two step:daughters and one step-son-in-law, Maida and Robert H. Anderson, Provo, UT; Connie and James G. Robinson, Orem, UT and Ernest W. Myers, Orland, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 30 step-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, 90 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, sis-ter, Marcia Witt, Venice, UT; Joseph Wilson, Salt Lake City, UT; Orville Wilson, LaVerkin, UT and Robert D. Riding, Kanab, UT. He was preceded in death by wife Dora, parents, step-son, Vern Stout; step-daughter, LaNita Myers; step-grandson, Dick Stout; brother, Iddo Wilson and three sisters, Stella Pettit, Merle Stratton and Mary Lund. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 30, 1996 in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel in Tropic. Burial was in the Hillsdale Cemetery under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons Morturay, Richfield. Scott Allyn Edmiston ESCALANTE Funeral services for Scott Allyn Edmiston, 22 of EscalantePanguitch, who passed away as a result of an auto accident Aug. 24, 1996 were held Saturday, Aug. 31 in the Escalante LDS Church. William "Bill" Kay offered the family prayer prior to the opening of the servie. Eric Woolsey officiated offi-ciated over the services with prelude pre-lude and postlude music provided by Susan Wilson. Karen Peterson sang a musical selection, "I Swear," followed by an opening prayer by Wade Barney. A tribute was given by former Escalante High School Principal Myron Cottam and a poetic tribute entitled "A Stairway to Heaven," written by Mrs. Scott (Rachel) Edmiston, was printed on the program pro-gram for each person to read. Martin Bridges spoke followed by remarks from Wade Barney. A musical selection "The Dance" was sung by Than Cooper, with Jason Spencer offering the closing prayer. Pallbearers were Terrell Cronin, Ron Cochrane, Allen Overall, Vince Sheffer, Travis Livingston and Andy Riggs. Honorary pallbearers pall-bearers Rick Cochrane, John Ahl- Scott Allyn Edmiston strom, Bill Henry, Bill Overall, Jake Leibenguth, Larry Sidwell, Tracy Sidwell, Randall Bridges and Josh Henry. Flowers were handled by sisters -in-law and friends. Compassionate Compas-sionate services were offered by the Relief Society of the Escalante Ward. Dedication of the grave was performed by John Riggs with interment in the Escalante Cemetery Ceme-tery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary of Cedar City. |
