Show James Gerald Veater PANGUITCH James Gerald Veater, 67, died March 19, 1992 in St. George. He was born Dec. 11, 1924 in Richfield to Ruland and Bernice Veater. He married Marilyn Miller, Sept. 28, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. A veteran of World War II, he held various jobs in the LDS church throughout his life. He operated heavy equipment, building many stock ponds, leveling land around Garfield County and later, working on road construction. He enjoyed helping people in the community by donating numerous nu-merous hours of service and was responsible re-sponsible for the Garfield County State Fair booth for seven years. The county's booth was named Grand Champion booth one of those years. He has been a board member and sexton for the Panguitch Pangui-tch cemetery for many years, always al-ways going the extra mile. He loved his family dearly and especially espe-cially loved being a grandfather and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his shop with wood and metal and was fond of hunting, camping and the outdoors. Surviving family members include in-clude his wife; one son and two daughters and spouses, Ronald and Lori Veater, Mona; Tamera and Craig Bartholomew, Fillmore; Geralyn and Clem McEwen, St. George; 10 grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters, Ned Veater and Lydia Hardy, American Fork; Margaret Hardy and Winona Bradley, Kanab; Ralph Veater and Betty Frandsen, Panguitch; and Harry Veater, of Tennessee. Funeral services were held Monday, March. 23 at the Panguitch Pangui-tch LDS 3rd Ward with Bishop James H. Hatch officiating and prelude and postlude music provided by Irene McEwen. Craig Bartholomew offered the family prayer and service began with an invocation offered by David Owens. A special piano solo was f ! ; f f V. i - fc- I t,,r-m i i.-,.. J James Gerald Veater rendered by Sandi McEwen, followed by a poem by Kami Bartholomew. Geralyn McEwen spoke followed by a medley of songs by Jim Cooper. Tamera Bartholomew also spoke with Ka-trina Ka-trina Bartholomew providing a tribute. Bishop James H. Hatch delivered de-livered remarks with a piano medley med-ley performed by Benji McEwen and benediction by Alma Magleby. Ronald Veater provided the dedication of the grave with full military rites performed by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25. In recognition of his military service, DeWitt Hey wood, Panguitch Pangui-tch presented the U.S. flag. Pallbearers were Clem McEwen, Benji McEwen, Craig Bartholomew, Brian Bartholo-mew, Kent Miller, Dwight Miller, Boyd Miller and Milo Lyon. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Bartholomew, Dusti McEwen, Bodi McEwen, Joshua Veater, Ralph Veater, Ned Veater, Keith Frandsen and Harry Carl Veater. Interment was at the Panguitch Cemetery under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons, Richfield. Reta Sudweeks RICHFIELD Reta Thompson Thomp-son Sudweeks, 63, died March 23, 1992 at her home in Richfield. She was born December 14, 1928 in Escalante to Johnny and Ina Alvey Thompson. She married Elvin J. Sudweeks, September 15, 1947 in Fredonia, Ariz. She was a member of the LDS Church where she was a teacher in the Relief Society and Primary for many years. She was a Cub Scout and Tops leader. She loved camping, camp-ing, visiting friends and riding her ATV. She enjoyed her handicrafts and making things for other people. She baked the best sugar cookies ever. Surviving family members include in-clude husband; four sons and one daughter, E. Mac Sudweeks, Monroe; Mon-roe; Floris Sudweeks, Salt Lake City; Don Sudweeks, Annabella; DeVere Sudweeks, Aurora and Mrs. Lance (R. Marie) Lee, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Oma) Sevy, Kellog, Ida.; Hasten Thompson, Kamas; Roland Thompson, Tucson, Tuc-son, Ariz.; Irean Thompson, Salt Lake City, and Mac Alvey Thompson, Thomp-son, California. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 1992 at 1:00 p.m. in the Richfield First LDS Ward Chapel, 985 South 400 West, Richfield. Friends may call at the Neal S.
