Show anna OBITUARIES V Orlas James Riggs Funeral services were held March 23 at the Panguitch LDS Stake Center for Orlas James Riggs, 84, who died March 21 at his home in Hatch. He was born July 13, 1906 in Panguitch to William Reeves and Priscilla Sophia Barnhurst Riggs. He married Estella Smith June 2, 1924 at Hatch. Their marriage was later solemnized Sept. 17, 1924 in the St. George LDS Temple. Tem-ple. He was a farmer and worked at a sawmill before retiring. He was an active member of the LDS Church where he served as elders quorum secretary for many years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a great love for his family. He is survived by his wife of Hatch, five sons and a daughter, John Riggs and Earl Riggs, Clearfield; Jerry Riggs, St. George; Duard Riggs, Salt Lake City; and William Ralph Riggs, Kanab; and Mrs. Leslie (Ilene) Foote, Salt Lake City; 31 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. He was preceded pre-ceded in death by four brothers and four sisters and a daughter-in-law, Golda Truman Riggs, At the funeral services, the family fam-ily prayer was given by Jerry Riggs, prelude and postlude music was by Merrill Riggs; and there were two musical selections by Dorothy Barney, Ardis Evans, May Sawyer, Lorna Barnhurs't, Adcll Riggs, and Mariam Nelson, accompanied by Laura Eden. Orlas Riggs The invocation was given by Earl Riggs followed by a vocal solo by Elaine Riggs. Speakers were Layton Barney, Leland Riggs and Wiley Huntington. Merrill Riggs performed an organ medley. Duard Riggs offered the benediction. benedic-tion. Pallbearers were Gary Riggs, Steven Riggs, Richard Foote, Russell Rus-sell Riggs, David Riggs, and Bill Riggs. Honorary pallbearers were Merrill Riggs, Lindell Riggs, Du-ane Du-ane Riggs, Allen Riggs, Lane Riggs, Dee Riggs, and Mike Foote The grave was dedicated by John Orlas Riggs before interment in the Hatch Cemetery under the direction of Ncal S. Magleby & Sons.. Earl Dee Haws ESCALANTE - Funeral services ser-vices were held March 23, 1991 at the Escalante LDS Stake Center for Earl Dee Haws, 87, who died at his home in Escalante on March 19. The family prayer was offered by Ray Barney. Prelude and postlude music were provided by Areola Gates. Donald Haws offered the invocation in-vocation followed by a vocal solo by Elizabeth Herion, accompanied by Dawn Griffin. Donnie Randall rendered a tribute followed by a vocal solo by Jim Haws. Speakers were Gerald Funeral services were held March 23 in Panguitch for Woodrow Wilson Young, 75, who died March 20, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born September 16, 1915 in Mountain Home Utah., a son of Joseph Angel and Laretta Brinkerhoff Young. He graduated from Roosevelt High and attended one year at Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. He joined the Civilian Conservation Conser-vation Corp and came to Panguitch in 1939 where he met and married Veda Miller Sept. 29, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He managed Bradshaw Auto Parts in Panguitch for 22 years and also farmed. He moved his family to Las Vegas in August 1968 to work with his brother-in-law Garth Cameron. He later returned to the auto parts business until he retired. He was active in the LDS Church where he served in various auxiliaries auxil-iaries and was active in civic affairs, having served on the Panguitch City Council. He spent much of his time after retirement at the family fam-ily cabin at Panguitch Lake. He is survived by his wife, Veda of Las Vegas; sons, James of Salt Lake City and William of Soda Springs, Ida.; daughters Mrts. Dennis (Joan) Dana of Las Vegas and Mrs. Rodney (Dorothy) Cole of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Clark Young, Ogden; a sister, Margaret Leavitt, Hemet, Calif.; 16 grandchildren grand-children and one great-grandchild. Compassionate services were rendered by the LDS Third Ward Relief Society. The family prayer Haycock and Quinn Griffin. Bill and Dawn Griffin sang a duet and the benediction was given by Robert Haws. Interment was in Escalante Cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Freland Alvey. Pallbearers were Robert Haws, Steven Barney, Kaylon Mclnelly, Ricky Haws, Dean Mclnelly and Brandon Haws. Honorary pallbearers pallbear-ers were Tom Black, Brent Cottam, Sean Clark, Clyde Christensen, Dale Sanders, Don Earl Haws, Jon Sorenson, Mike Herion and Kim Randall. Woodrow Wilson Young was given by James Young and the invocation by Allen Wallace. Prelude Pre-lude and postlude music were provided pro-vided by Barbara Orton and Pam Robinson. Two musical selection was performed by the Panguitch 3rd Ward Choir. A musical selection was performed by the grandchildren, accompanied by Pam Robinson. A vocal solo was rendered by Sandra Cameron. Speakers were Frank Henrie and Rodney Cole, with remarks re-marks by Bishop Jim Hatch. The benediction was given by Gary Cameron. Pallbearers were, James Young, William Young, Nielsen Young, James Miller, Russell Miller, and Jeffrey Dana. Bruce Cameron dedicated the grave and military rites were performed per-formed by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25. Interment was in the Panguitch City Cemetery by SpringerTurner Funeral Home, Richfield. |
