Show Escalante City Police Report ESCALANTE Police Chief Sam Winkler reports the following law enforcement activity in Escalante for the past week: Mar. 11 - There was a break-in at the Escalante Airport. Anyone with information should call the Escalante Police Department at 826-4223. Mar. 14 - Mary Griffin, 76, Escalante, and Arnold Weymann, 55 El Paso, Texas, were involved in a traffic collision at the Chevron parking lot at 802 East Highway 12. There were no injuries and only minor damages. Mar. 15 - A minor collision on Reservoir Road occurred when one vehicle backed into into another after being struck by paint balls. All occupants of both vehicles were minors and no injuries were reported. Mar. 16 - Kimberly L. Wil-burn, Wil-burn, 24, Parowan, was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued out of Davis County. She was stopped (See POLICE on page 3 -A) POLICE From Front Page for speeding 6540 when a records check showed a suspended driver's license and the warrant. Two passengers were able to post her bail at the Escalante Justice Court and she was released. She pleaded guilty to the two traffic offenses and was fined $360, sentenced to three months in jail (suspended), and placed on six months probation. Dennis L. Richards, 57, Escalante, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was booked into jail and the ATV he was riding was impounded. An Escalante minor was involved in-volved in a traffic accident on Main Street.' The white car the minor was driving struck a full-size pickup with four minor occupants. The driver and passenger in the white car were injured slightly. The occupants of the black pickup were not injured. No one was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the white car was cited for Never Obtaining a Drivers License and Following Too Close. The vehicle ve-hicle he was driving was severely damaged. Mar. 17 - Rocky Kelly, 20, Es-calante, was arrested along with two minors for Consumption of Alcohol and Open Container. The driver, a minor, was stopped for driving without headlights. The driver was arrested for DUI-Not a Drop, Open Container, No Drivers License in Possession and for driving without headlights. Kelly was cited and released and the two minors were cited and released to their parents. Winkler reminds Escalante residents: resi-dents: "It's your police, get involved." in-volved." The Escalante Police Department Depart-ment also reminds everyone to wear seatbelts and buckle up children. Statistics show that most accidents occur within just a few miles of home. |
